Knoxville Police are searching for a suspect wanted for attempted murder following a shooting at an apartment complex.
27-year-old Jevess Craigmire is wanted on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery, stemming from a shooting at an apartment complex on Dandridge Avenue early Saturday morning.
The 31 year-old victim was taken to the hospital after being shot “at least one time” and she is in stable condition.
Anyone with information regarding Craigmire’s whereabouts is asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165.
An investigation is underway following the death of a Rod Run participant on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department says a man was traveling on a scooter near the Parkway and Jake Thomas Road late Thursday night when a car door was opened. Chief Richie Catlett says he’s not sure what was going on at the time but it is a horrible accident.
This (Sunday) morning at 9:33 AM, Knox County 911 received a call from a passerby on Chapman Highway advising that Wheels Auto Sales at 6246 Chapman Highway appeared to be on fire. The caller advised that smoke was coming from the building.
On the arrival of the first KFD engine company, the officer advised that they had a working fire in a single-story building on the car lot.
KFD crews immediately began to attack the fire but had extreme difficulty reaching the bulk of it due to the large number of items stored within the building. Crews had to work to clear a path to find the location where the majority of the fire was.
The Incident Commander deemed the fire under control within 20 minutes of the arrival of KFD.
One firefighter was treated and released on the scene for a minor injury.
The building has suffered significant fire damage.
The structure is not sprinkled or alarmed.
Knoxville Fire Department investigators are on the scene working to determine a cause.
An investigation is underway after a Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy attempted to stop a car on Chapman Highway for a traffic violation when the suspect fled and crashed into a South Knoxville business.
It happened last night (Sunday), in the 6200 block of Chapman Highway at the former Kay’s Ice Cream.
The driver, who has outstanding warrants, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The restaurant was closed at the time of the incident, and there are no other injuries. The driver is now facing additional charges in addition to the outstanding warrants.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – A record-setting performance from Christian Moore along with contributions from a variety of others led No. 2/4 Tennessee to a 13-11 victory and a huge road series win against No. 3/3 Kentucky on Sunday afternoon in front of another sellout crowd in Lexington.
Moore tied the single-game program record with three home runs and finished the day with four runs scored and six RBIs to lead the Big Orange to their fifth straight SEC series win.
His first homer opened the scoring in the third inning and gave the Vols an early 2-0 lead, but the Wildcats quickly responded with six unanswered runs over the next three innings to take a 6-2 lead.
UT (33-7, 12-6 SEC) fought back, however, and scored five runs in the top of the sixth to retake the lead as Blake Burke, Billy Amick, Dylan Dreiling and Cannon Peebles all drove in runs in the inning to put the Vols back ahead, 7-6.
After a two-run homer by Grant Smith put UK back in front in the bottom of the sixth, it was Moore who tied things back up in the top of the seventh with his second long ball of the day. Kavares Tears put Tennessee back in front with his only hit of the game, a two-run shot into the bullpen in right field.
Another Wildcats’ home run in the bottom of the seventh cut the deficit to one, but Moore saved his best for last, hammering a 1-0 pitch over the left-field wall in the top of the eighth for a three-run blast that proved to be the game-winning hit.
Kentucky (32-7, 15-3 SEC) didn’t go down without a fight, hitting back-to-back solo homers in the bottom of the ninth before bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs, but sophomore righthander Marcus Phillips came on to record the final out and record his second save of the year.
The top six batters in UT’s order combined for all 11 of the team’s hits to go along with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
Burke and Dean Curley joined Moore as Vols who posted multi-hit efforts, finishing with two apiece. Burke’s two singles extended his program-record long hitting streak to an incredible 30 straight games.
Kirby Connell picked up his fourth win of the year after a gritty relief outing of 4.1 innings. Kentucky reliever Travis Smith got the loss after allowing five runs on four hits in just one inning of work.
STAT OF THE GAME: Moore became the seventh player in program history to hit three home runs in a game and just the fourth to do so in an SEC game, joining Evan Russell (vs. Vanderbilt and LSU in 2021), Todd Helton (vs. Arkansas in 1995) and Rusty Ensor (vs. Vanderbilt in 1981). Moore is also the second Vol to homer three times in a game this season, joining fellow middle infielder Dean Curley, who did so against Kansas State on March 5.
With his record-setting performance, Moore also moved into sole possession of UT’s career home run lead, passing Burke for the first time. The Brooklyn, New York, native, now has 46 career homers and leads the team with 19 on the year, including 13 in conference play.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The fourth-ranked Lady Vols used a three-run sixth inning to take the rubber match and the series victory against No. 7 LSU at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium on Sunday.
Tennessee (34-8, 14-4 SEC) has won seven consecutive conference series dating to its final series of the 2023 season against South Carolina. It has also won 14 of its last 15 league series dating to the final SEC weekend of the 2022 campaign.
Sophomore Karlyn Pickens produced another incredible outing in the circle, throwing six shutout innings en route to her 16th win of the season. The right-hander fanned seven and walked four in the outing, while scattering four hits on the day.
Graduate Payton Gottshall entered the circle to close out the contest, picking up her second save of the year with a flawless seventh inning.
LSU (35-10, 11-10 SEC) had the first opportunity to break through, threatening with runners on second and third with one out in the second inning, but Pickens delivered a strikeout before inducing a groundout to end the frame.
After collecting just three hits in the first five innings of action, the Tennessee bats came alive in the sixth, sparked by a Rylie West double off the center-field wall with one out in the inning. A walk and hit-by-pitch loaded the bases, setting the stage for senior Giulia Koutsoyanopulos, who hammered a two-out, full-count pitch off the right-field wall for a two-run double.
Koutsoyanopulos finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate.
Freshman Gabby Leach followed up Koutsoyanopulos’ two-RBI double with an RBI single up the middle for the third run of the inning, proving to be more than enough run support for Gottshall in the seventh.
Sydney Berzon pitched all six innings for the Tigers, allowing three runs on six hits. McKenzie Redoutey had two of LSU’s four hits, including a double in the third.
STAT OF THE DAY The Lady Vols held No. 7 LSU to just one run over the weekend as Payton Gottshall and Karlyn Pickens owned the circle for 21 innings. The pitching duo combined for 17 strikeouts, four walks, allowed just two extra-base hits and held the Tigers to a .127 batting average.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The fourth-ranked Lady Vols fell 1-0 on Saturday in a pitcher’s dual to No.7 LSU at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Strong pitching held both teams scoreless until the fourth inning when LSU’s (34-9, 10-9 SEC) Raeleen Guiterrez broke the silence, hitting a home run to right field to put the Tigers up 1-0.
That was all the offense LSU needed as Kelley Lynch guided LSU from the circle, limiting Tennessee to just five hits on the day. Tossing a complete game, Lynch fanned six and walked just two en route to her sixth win of the season.
Sophomore Karlyn Pickens tossed a complete game for the Lady Vols, striking out three and allowing only one run, three hits and no walks.
Despite a valiant effort on defense, including a well-executed double play with Pickens, Destiny Rodriguez and Giulia Koutsoyanopulos in the top of the fifth to end an LSU rally, Pickens suffered her fifth loss of the season.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 2/4 Tennessee scored five runs before No. 3/3 Kentucky recorded an out and never looked back, evening the weekend series with a 9-4 victory on Saturday afternoon in front of another record crowd at Kentucky Proud Park.
Christian Moore and Blake Burke led off the game with back-to-back home runs to give the Vols a 2-0 lead in the blink of an eye. After Billy Amick reached on an error, UT pounced on Wildcats’ starting pitcher Dominic Niman again with three straight RBI doubles to make it 5-0 and chase him from the game.
The Big Orange blasted five home runs on the afternoon, marking the ninth time this season that they have hit five or more in a game, including the third time on the road.
After Kentucky scored twice in the bottom of the first, including a leadoff homer of their own from Ryan Waldschmidt, UT answered with a Kavares Tears solo shot in the second and added two more runs in the fifth to extend its lead to 8-2.
Dylan Dreiling led off that fifth inning with the first of his two long balls in the game, giving him 15 for the season. His second of the day came on a 3-1 pitch in the eighth inning to account for the final run of the game.
Despite a bit of a rocky start, Drew Beam was solid on the mound for the majority of his outing before running into some trouble in the fifth inning. The junior retired eight consecutive batters before giving up four hits in a row in the fifth to end his day after 4.1 innings pitched and four strikeouts.
Aaron Combs came on to relieve Beam and was able to limit the damage in the inning to just two runs. Aside from a jam in the sixth inning that he was able to work out of, Combs was dominant out of the bullpen, setting career highs with 4.2 innings pitched and seven strikeouts while allowing just three hits and no walks to earn his first win of the season.
Tennessee (32-7, 11-6 SEC) had four players finish with multiple hits after not having a single player do so in Friday night’s contest. Moore led the charge with a career-high tying four hits to go along with a pair of RBIs while Tears, Dreiling and Dean Curley combined for eight base knocks, six runs scored and six RBIs.
Waldschmidt had another big day at the plate for the Wildcats (32-6, 15-2 SEC), leading them with three hits, two runs and an RBI.
UT’s win on Saturday ended UK’s 11-game SEC win streak.
STAT OF THE GAME: Moore tied Burke’s career home run record for the second time this season following his leadoff homer in the first inning, the 43rd of his career. Unfortunately for Moore, that lasted all of a minute or two as Burke hit his 44th two pitches later.
UP NEXT: The Vols will play their fourth Sunday rubber game this year after Saturday’s victory to even the series at a game apiece. Tennessee is 2-1 in its previous three winner-take-all game threes with victories over Ole Miss and Georgia.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 2/4 Tennessee was unable to hold on to a late lead and dropped its series opener at No. 3/3 Kentucky, 5-3, on Friday night in front of a record-setting crowd of 6,922 at Kentucky Proud Park.
A three-run seventh inning erased a two-run deficit for the Wildcats before they added an extra insurance run in the eighth to rally for their 15th SEC win of the year.
The Vols entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 3-1 lead thanks to a Hunter Ensley two-run homer in the top of the second inning and a Christian Moore RBI single in the fifth, but a hit batter, a walk, two hits and a pair of errors in the inning allowed the Wildcats to plate three runs and take their first lead of the night.
Tennessee threatened in the top of the eighth after a single by Blake Burke and a hit batter put two on with one out, but a strikeout and a pop up in foul territory ended the threat.
A solo homer from Nolan McCarthy in the bottom of eighth extended UK’s lead to two heading into the ninth, setting the stage for closer Johnny Hummel to pick up his fifth save of the season despite giving up a leadoff walk to Dean Curley.
UT (31-7, 10-6 SEC) finished with just six hits on the night and no player had more than one.
Junior righthander AJ Causey was stuck with the loss despite an admirable extended relief outing, striking out seven and scattering five hits in 6.1 innings of work.
Kentucky leadoff man Ryan Waldschmidt led the team with a pair of hits and two RBIs, including a solo home run to get the Wildcats (32-5, 15-1 SEC) on the board in the third inning.
Reliever Travis Smith earned the win for UK after striking out three in two scoreless innings to improve to 3-2 on the year.
STAT OF THE GAME: With his single in the eighth inning, Burke extended his hit streak to 28 consecutive games and now stands alone as the program record holder, surpassing Condredge Holloway’s 27-game hit streak 49 years ago.
