Florida Georgia Line Issues a Friendly Challenge & Donates $10,000 to Benefit Victims of Las Vegas Shooting

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line issued a heartfelt message—and a challenge—on Instagram on Oct. 3 in response to the Las Vegas shooting.

After donating $10,000 to a GoFundMe account created to assist the victims of the Las Vegas shooting, FGL challenged some of their friends—including Thomas Rhett, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Bebe Rexha, Jason Derulo and the Backstreet Boys—to make donations too.

FGL stated: “The families and victims affected by the horrific @route91harvest tragedy need our help. The Clark County, NV commission has established a GoFundMe account to provide financial relief to the victims and we are grateful to be able to make a donation. Calling on the rest of you to donate what you can, any amount, it doesn’t matter. Every little bit helps. Let’s give the hurt families one less thing to worry about in this time of distress. We challenge @thomasrhettakins @thetimmcgraw @lukebryan @beberexha @jasonderulo @backstreetboys to make a donation as well. Times like this call for us to come together and do what we can to make a difference. Click the link in our bio and donate what you can. Let’s ease the financial burden on the families and victims of this senseless tragedy. Much love y’all.”

Watch Shania Twain Perform “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed” on “The Late Show With James Corden”

In support of her new album, Now, which dropped on Sept. 29, Shania Twain took her talents to L.A. to perform “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed” on The Late Show With James Corden.

Shania penned every track on her new album, including “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed,” which she released as a single in August.

“The new music is more celebratory, more inspirational, more about coming from somewhere bad and going somewhere good, dark to light, and that whole transition emotionally,” said Shania to Nash Country Daily. “So, it’s a little deeper emotionally, for sure, this new album. There’s a lot of optimism.”

After Las Vegas Attack, Jason Aldean Cancels 3 Upcoming Tour Dates & Issues a New Statement

After Las Vegas Attack, Jason Aldean Cancels 3 Upcoming Tour Dates & Issues a New Statement

On Oct. 1, a “lone wolf” gunman opened fire during Jason Aldean’s set at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, killing 59 people and injuring more than 500. As you can imagine, it’s been an emotional couple of days for Jason.

Today (Oct. 3), Jason released a statement through his PR team, canceling three upcoming dates on his They Don’t Know Tour: Los Angeles (Oct. 6), San Diego (Oct. 7) and Anaheim (Oct. 8).

The tour will resume on Oct. 12 in Tulsa, Okla. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Jason’s full statement is below.

As a result of what happened in Las Vegas this week, we have decided to cancel this coming weekend’s shows. I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do. It has been an emotional time for everyone involved this week, so we plan to take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close with our family and friends. Our plan is to resume the tour the following week in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our first time back onstage will be a very tough and emotional thing for us, but we will all get through it together and honor the people we lost by doing the only thing we know how to do – play our songs for them. I hope everyone understands why we can’t play this weekend and I’m sorry if anyone is disappointed.

I want to say thank you for the outpouring of love from my friends and fans we have received over the last couple days. You guys have no idea how much you have helped get us through this tough time.

Thank You and God Bless.

Watch Kenny Chesney’s New Video Update on Hurricane Relief Via His “Love For Love City Foundation”

After Hurricane Irma destroyed his home in St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands in early September, Kenny Chesney promised to help those affected by the devastation, saying, “I don’t know right now how we’re going to do this. But I want to help. I want to enlist my friends to figure out the best ways to make a difference, to help in whatever ways, small or larger, that we can . . . Give us a few days to figure this out.”

True to his word, Kenny launched the Love for Love City Foundation to support Hurricane Irma relief. “Love City” is St. John’s nickname.

Kenny has continued sending supplies to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, increasing the effort after Hurricane Maria dealt another blow to the Caribbean in mid-September, especially St. Croix.

Kenny posted a video update on Love for Love City’s efforts on Facebook today (Oct. 3), which you can watch below. Those interested in supporting the Love for Love City Foundation can do so online.

Maren Morris Says New Song, “Dear Hate,” Was Inspired by the Charleston Shooting in 2015

Maren Morris Says New Song, “Dear Hate,” Was Inspired by the Charleston Shooting in 2015

Maren Morris performed during Day 2 of the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 30, one day before a gunman opened fire on the crowd during Jason Aldean’s headlining set, killing 59 people and injuring more than 500.

On Oct. 2, Maren released a new song, “Dear Hate,” and stated that some of the proceeds from the song will benefit the Music City Cares Fund, which was established by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to support the victims of the Las Vegas massacre. “Dear Hate,” which features vocals from Vince Gill, will be available for download on Friday, Oct. 6.

Maren talked to morning show Ty, Kelly & Chuck today (Oct. 3) for a segment that is slated to air on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 5:40 a.m. CT and 8:40 a.m. CT.

Maren told hosts Ty Bentli and Kelly Ford that “Dear Hate,” which she co-penned with Tom Douglas and David Hodges, was inspired by the Charleston shooting on June 17, 2015. During the shooting, a domestic terrorist opened fire on members of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, killing nine adults.

“It’s sad, but we wrote it after the [Charleston] shooting,” said Maren. “Neither my co-writers or I wanted to really write that day, but Tom [Douglas] just had that title, ‘Dear Hate,’ and we got to talking and all of the sudden this song started forming—this really beautiful poem—and we just kind of fiddled around with some chords. By the end of the day, the demo was done and recorded. We just kind of all sat back and were out of breath, I think, from just how powerful the message was. It’s just such a particular theme and subject and it just never felt like the right time to release it [until now] because it is such a powerful message.”

Tune in to Ty, Kelly & Chuck on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 5:40 a.m. CT and 8:40 a.m. CT to hear Maren’s full interview.
