Season 12 of The Voice will come to a close tonight (May 23) as Jesse Larson (Team Adam), Chris Blue (Team Alicia), Lauren Duski (Team Blake) or Aliyah Moulden (Team Blake) is crowned champion.

Last night (May 22) during part one of the season finale, Blake performed duets with both of his team members.

Blake teamed with Lauren for a cover of “There’s a Tear in My Beer,” a song Hank Williams wrote and recorded in the 1950s. Hank Williams Jr. released his version of the song in 1988, featuring vocals from his father. The Hank Sr./Jr. collaboration won a Grammy in 1990.

Watch Blake and Lauren perform the duet below.

Blake also joined forces with Aliyah for a performance of “Dancing in the Street,” a song co-written by Marvin Gaye that Martha and the Vandellas had a hit with in 1964. Van Halen recorded the song in 1982 and it reached No. 38 on the Billboard chart, while a duet between David Bowie and Mick Jagger in 1985 reached No. 7 on the Billboard chart.

In the Western Conference Finals against the Anaheim Ducks, Keith Urban (May 16) delighted the crowd with an a cappella performance before Game 3, while Kelly Clarkson sang the anthem before Game 4 (May 18).

Chris Janson’s new video for his current single, “Fix a Drink,” keeps the party flowing with friends Luke Bryan, Michael Ray, Dustin Lynch and Chris Lucas of LOCASH.

“I wanted to be a part of something with my co-writers that made people feel good,” says Chris to Nash Country Daily. “Everyone knows that I’m not an alcohol drinker anymore, but what a lot of people don’t know is I love the whole mixology subculture. You grow a big Civil War beard and you learn how to mix a cool drink. If I could grow a beard like that, believe me, I’d be a mixologist, 100 percent. I can fix a drink, and my drink of choice is a cold can of Mountain Dew, but I can fix all kinds of drinks. I’ve done it for years. And then when the song idea for ‘Fix a Drink’ came together, it felt like a no-brainer. It just works. You can be drinking a Hi-C or a Jack and Coke and it doesn’t matter. It’s a fun, feel-good song for the summer.”

The new tune, which Chris co-wrote with Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley, is the lead single from his upcoming album, which he plans to release this summer. “Fix a Drink” hits country radio today (May 22).

Whether your preference is a cold beer, a shot of tequila or something a little fruity, it makes no nevermind. Sit back, relax and watch Chris fix a drink in his new video.

Jimmy’s blog: Another injury forces Williams to early retirement

Jimmy’s blog: Another injury forces Williams to early retirement

By Jimmy Hyams

Caitlyn Williams was destined for stardom.

She was one of the top junior players ever produced by Knoxville.

Williams, whose parents were star players in college and whose older brother was an All- American at Tennessee, considered turning pro out of high school.

Instead she signed with the Lady Vols. But an injury plagued career kept her from reaching her potential as she suffered two torn rotator cuffs.

Another injury, to her right shoulder/labrum, has forced the 23-year-old into an early retirement.

“I don’t want to have a fifth surgery,’’ Williams told me this morning. “It’s disappointing to end my pro career this way.’’

Williams was hurt recently when she fell while practicing on clay courts in Italy with her older brother, Rhyne.

Williams was getting therapy Monday morning at the Tennessee Sports Medicine Group. She said she’s not healthy enough to be a pro player but might become an instructor.

Williams was a five-star tennis recruit who was ranked No. 19 in the nation and No. 67 in the world in the ITF girls 18 singles. She was ranked No. 1 in the nation in girls 16. She was a three-time winner of the Southern Girl Player of the Year award (2005, 2007, 2009). She won a pro futures doubles title in Sumter, S.C.

But she couldn’t make it through a season at Tennessee without being sidelined. As a freshman she was 10-8 in singles, 13-10 in doubles, with a high ranking of No. 9 with Natalie Pluskota.

Due to injury, she often was unable to practice and focused mainly on doubles her last two seasons at UT.

She finished her Tennessee career with a 29-25 record in singles, 57-35 in doubles. She won three doubles titles at UT.

Williams mother, Michelle, was an All-American at Tennessee, and her dad, Bob, was All-ACC at Duke. Her brother Rhyne was an All-American at Tennessee. Her sister Jennifer played at Birmingham Southern College.

He grandfather, Mike DePalmer, was a Hall of Fame coach at Tennessee.

The Williams family was selected Tennessee family of the year in 2006.
