KNOXVILLE, TENN. — The University of Tennessee’s newest residence hall was officially dedicated on Saturday morning. Stokely Hall is a $100 million, state-of-the-art facility that houses 684 students in private and shared super-suite rooming options. It features a community kitchen, two lobbies, two study rooms and two laundry rooms on each floor.

The building, which was officially opened to students in January 2017, also boasts a full-service Fresh Food Company dining facility, Starbucks coffee shop, POD grocery location and a 1,020-space parking garage.

Apart from the countless amenities the hall has to offer, it also showcases the history and traditions of the university within its walls, featuring pieces on Smokey, the Hill, the Torchbearer and the Alma Mater. The intention of this hall is to provide students with not only a place to live, but also a place to learn.

The dedication ceremony included remarks from Vice Chancellor for Student Life Vincent Carilli, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Executive Director of University Housing Dr. Frank Cuevas, first-year Resident Assistant for Stokely Hall and second-year student Jayda Blackwell, Chancellor Beverly Davenport as well as William B. Stokely III.

The Stokely name has a long-standing history with the University of Tennessee in various facets of life on campus. The family has been integral in the food and hospitality industry on campus for decades while also serving the university for nearly 100 years. A member of the Stokely family has served on a leadership role of various capital campaigns for almost 50 years here at UT.

Stokely Hall goes an extra step to honor the family while also paying homage to a key facet in the history of Tennessee Athletics. In the patio of the new residence hall is a cornerstone from the Stokely Athletic Center that was housed in the same area from 1958 until its demolition in 2014. This small piece of UT athletics history is used to show the legacy that this family has built into this university for nearly a century.

Their family name has been honored over the years through the UT Foundation Board of Directors, the Chancellor’s Associates, advisory boards in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Haslam College of Business, as well as the UT Athletics Board.

Jana Kramer Puts Country Radio on Blast, But Did She Get Her Facts Accurate?

Jana Kramer Puts Country Radio on Blast, But Did She Get Her Facts Accurate?

Jana Kramer put country radio on blast in a Twitter post on April 19, claiming RaeLynn’s “Love Triangle” has outsold the past two No. 1 songs, despite struggling on the charts.

Let’s take a look at Jana’s post below . . . and then dissect it for accuracy.

First of all, RaeLynn’s “Love Triangle,” which dropped in August 2016, peaked at No. 26 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart before being removed from the chart last month. The song is currently still on the Mediabase chart at No. 28.

According to Nielsen Music, “Love Triangle” has sold 153,088 units as of April 19.

As far as “the past two No. 1s” Jana was referencing in her Twitter post? On both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts, the past two No. 1 songs were Lauren Alaina’s “Road Less Traveled” and Jason Aldean’s “Any Ol’ Barstool.”

According to Nielsen, “Any Ol’ Barstool”—released in December 2016—has sold 147,892 units as of April 19, which is 5,196 units less than “Love Triangle.” Jana was correct in this instance.

However, “Lauren Alaina’s “Road Less Traveled”—released in July 2016—has sold 203,524 units as of April 19, which is 50,436 units more than “Love Triangle.” Jana was incorrect in this instance.

  1. “Road Less Traveled” (Lauren Alaina): 203,524 units sold
  2. “Love Triangle” (RaeLynn): 153,088 units sold
  3. “Any Ol’ Barstool” (Jason Aldean): 147,892 units sold

Just for good measure, I took a look at Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” which has been No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for the last 10 weeks. According to Nielsen, “Body Like a Back Road” has sold 730,723 units as of April 19, which is 577,635 more units than “Love Triangle.”

Unless Jana was looking at different sales figures (Apple’s sales figures are consistent with Nielsen’s aforementioned numbers) or she was referencing a different chart, her Twitter post is inaccurate.

Obviously, Jana’s post was more about bringing to light the discrepancy in the number of female artists currently represented on the charts. In the instance of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, currently only six female solo artists have songs in the Top 60: Kelsea Ballerini, Lauren Alaina, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire and Carly Pearce.

Tyler Farr Opens His Life For New Reality TV Series: “There’s Parts on There My Grandma Ain’t Gonna Approve Of”

Tyler Farr Opens His Life For New Reality TV Series: “There’s Parts on There My Grandma Ain’t Gonna Approve Of”

With his new single “I Should Go To Church” just released, Tyler Farr is making an announcement that will take the 33-year-old from our radios, to our video screens.

“Well I’ve been dropping y’all some hints and now it’s official. Someone agreed to give me my own show,” were the words Tyler Farr used on his Instagram account to announce the arrival of his new reality series, A Little Too Farr.

The new series will begin airing this summer on Hearst & Verizon’s Go 90 & Rated Red digital platforms, giving fans an inside look at Tyler’s life on and off the road.

“They filmed on the road, so you’ll be able to see a little behind-the-scenes,” Tyler shares with Nash Country Daily during his visit to the studio. “You’ll see me tired. The camera is there when I’m waking up and just getting home. You can tell I’m exhausted sometimes. I just look like complete crap. It’s the whole package. You’re definitely going to learn about me. If they don’t know my sense of humor and think I’m just a jerk, hopefully this show will show them I’m not. I’m just a jokester.

“I mean, there’s parts on there my grandma ain’t gonna approve of,” Tyler adds. “‘Cause it’s real, and like I said, I ain’t no saint. They’d literally just hit record and the most random stuff would come out of my mouth. They’d see me doing stuff and be like, ‘Oh, get someone to get the camera on him now!’ So it was fun. It was exhausting fun, but it’ll be out here in a couple months and I’m curious to see what people think.”

Filming on the series began in November 2016, a month after Tyler wed his then fiancée, Hannah Freeman. Fans are sure to get a glimpse inside the newlyweds marriage as Tyler takes us on his rowdy adventures.

Eli Young Band Leaves Their “Fingerprints” All Over New Album; Announces Track Listing

Eli Young Band has announced that they will be bringing new music to fans with the June 16 release of their album, Fingerprints—their fifth studio album and first for their new label, Valory Music Co.

“With this album, we made a concerted effort to take our cues from our fans,” said EYB’s bass player Jon Jones. “We’ve really paid attention to which songs they respond to during the live shows, whether they were the singles, or deep album cuts. We wanted to go into the studio with sounds that have resonated the most with the fans.”

“We started out as college friends united through music and while we’ve grown into much more, this album really is a return to where we came from,” added guitarist James Young.

The band took to Facebook this morning (April 21) to make the official announcement.

The new album features 11 tracks, eight of which were co-written by members of the band, including the romantic “Skin & Bones,” which was written by Mike Eli, Phil Barton and Lori McKenna about Mike’s connection with his wife Kacey.

“We’ve become so intertwined it’s hard to say where I end and she begins,” said Mike. “I’ve noticed certain things that I do and I am, simply because of her.”

Fingerprints, which features the lead single, “Saltwater Gospel,” is the first new music from the band in three years. Their previous album, 10,000 Towns, was released in 2014. While keeping with their familiar sound, the new music will introduce fans to an edgier, rocking side of the foursome.

“We owe everything to our fans,” said Mike. “We get to do what we love every day because of them.”
