“Consistently Inconsistent” Jerrod Niemann Readies New Album & Spring Release of New Single, “God Made a Woman”

“Consistently Inconsistent” Jerrod Niemann Readies New Album & Spring Release of New Single, “God Made a Woman”

When it comes to releasing new singles, Jerrod Niemann is like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse: “Expect the unexpected.”

His previous five singles—“Drink to That All Night,” “Donkey,” “Buzz Back Girl,” “Blue Bandana” and “A Little More Love”—are as sonically and thematically varied as their success on the charts.

1-43-35-32-28.

No, those aren’t your lucky lotto numbers today (although, feel free to bet them). The numbers actually represent the charting peaks of Jerrod’s aforementioned previous five singles on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Jerrod’s most recent single, “A Little More Love,” which featured Lee Brice, was released in April 2016, but the groovin’ beach jam stalled on the chart at No. 28 and delayed the release of his sixth studio album. Undeterred—and rarely uninspired—Jerrod will drop a new single, “God Made a Woman,” this spring (“early March or late April”) as he gears up for the release of the new album, his first for Curb Records.

“In this world of branding, branding, branding, what people are saying is you need consistency so people recognize you in a world where there’s so many moving parts, but there are so many ways your mind and heart and soul can be pulled,” says Jerrod in a sit-down with Nash Country Daily. “For me, my consistency is my inconsistency. You look at the past, so many of our favorite artist in all genres have taken chances and challenged themselves in the studio, not only as people, but as artists. And I feel like there’s more pressure to be the same all the time in our business for branding reasons. It drives me crazy, ’cause I really do go into the studio with nothing but wholeheartedly wanting to create something that matters. To me, I can’t do that unless I’m inspired and challenging myself. I will always try to add different flavors, different colors to the music. Not only challenge me, but also maybe challenge someone listening to the music to open their mind a little bit. Everybody’s got to be somebody, so you might as well be yourself.”

If you’re trying to pigeonhole Jerrod’s sound, or you just wish he’d go back to the “Lover, Lover” well (his 2010 No. 1), you’re out of luck. Jerrod is making the music that he wants to make, and he’s been doing it since he released his first album, Long Hard Road, in 1999. Case in point, Jerrod’s upcoming single, “God Made a Woman,” is a ballad.

“In radio a lot of times, ‘ballad’ is a cussword,” says Jerrod. “And I get it, but it’s fun to visit all the history of country music and to think about all the beautiful love songs that exist and have changed so many people’s lives. Where we would be without those? I haven’t put out a ballad in five years just because I wanted people to come to shows and get their everyday grind off their minds. This song is just such a special message to me that there’s no other way I can go.

“A lot of us guys out there are pains in the butt, and swear off marriage, and look at it as a ‘we’re getting duped’ thing. It isn’t until you do find somebody that allows you to zoom out and see the broader picture of life that you become a better person, a better man. When I heard ‘God Made a Woman,’ I just knew. It’s very rare for me hear a song once—I have to live with a song a while to really fall in love with it. This was one of those first-listen songs. I knew immediately—since I was producing it—how I wanted to do it with an orchestra and a steel guitar and really break it down. Kinda like some of our older songs that made us all want to move to town. In my heart, I feel like it’s the best song I’ve ever recorded.”

If “God Made a Woman” climbs the charts and generates the momentum Jerrod is anticipating, he’s hoping to release his sixth studio album—which he has already completed—in late summer or early fall. In addition to the duo with Lee Brice on “A Little More Love,” the album also features a collaboration with Diamond Rio.

“I’m done with everything on the album,” says Jerrod. “Completely got it mixed, mastered, it’s so fun to even say that. I’m there for every note. You know, I love it. When you get it done, it feels so good. Finally got it weaned down to the right amount of songs, and after putting ‘God Made a Woman’ out, I would say [the album] will probably be late summer, early fall. We don’t have a date yet, since we just got it wrapped up. But we’re hoping the single connects with enough people that it takes on a life of its own.

“I felt like we used half of the instruments, but got twice the sound [on the album], and the notes that are there are just as important as the notes aren’t there. This album, it breathes. Not only was I lucky enough to collaborate with my good buddy Lee Brice, I reached out to Diamond Rio and they came in and sang on a song too—and just brought it to a whole new level.”

If you don’t like Jerrod’s new single, “God Made a Woman,” he’ll rip your throat out just like Swayze does in “Roadhouse” . . . only kidding, of course.

Kip Moore Returns From His Much Needed Break: “I’m Back and Now I’m Ready to Go”

Kip Moore Returns From His Much Needed Break: “I’m Back and Now I’m Ready to Go”

At the end of 2016, when Kip Moore announced that he was going to take a little break from his grueling tour schedule, many believed that he was going to be gone for a long time. But alas, the Georgia native has resurfaced after three months away and claims he’s “ready to go.”

That [break comment] got stretched a little bit,” Kip told reporters at a press gathering. “I just said that I was going to take a little break. I never meant that I was going to go away for a long long time. I had only had more than seven or eight days off for about six years—I mean, that was the maximum I had in between tours. So, when you’re doing 200 shows a year for six years straight, you know, a week just doesn’t quite cut it. And I love to go surf so I go a long ways away. So, three months off is a pretty long time for me. I didn’t know exactly know how long I was gonna take, but I pretty much finished the record before I left and so I was able to completely disconnect from it. And, I went to Maui [Hawaii] first, then went to Costa Rica, then went to Park City [Utah], and now I’m back and now I’m ready to go.”

Kip is off to a great start with his new single, “More Girls Like You,” which was written by Kip, Steven Olsen, Josh Miller and David Garcia. It is the first single from his upcoming third studio album. The tune, which is about meeting someone you find so amazing that you hope the kids you have together are just as amazing, is something that Kip can relate to at this point in his life.

“I want to always make records that depict where I’m at at that particular place in my life,” Kip said. “I want my audience to grow with me. This is where I’m at in my life now. I’m still a wild card, I’m still aloof and I might be a little ways away from that, but as I’ve traveled and I’ve been around and seen different cultures—I watch dads be enamored with their daughters—I look forward to that now. I’m a lot more open to that now. So that’s what the song is. I feel it 100 percent.”

You can catch Kip at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Fla., on March 3, followed by dates in Hawaii and Australia, before returning to Las Vegas for the ACM Party for a Cause on April 1.

Tim McGraw Talks About His New Movie, “The Shack,” Writing a Song With Faith Hill & Their Upcoming Soul2Soul Tour

Tim McGraw Talks About His New Movie, “The Shack,” Writing a Song With Faith Hill & Their Upcoming Soul2Soul Tour

Tim McGraw was up bright and early this morning (Feb. 28) to visit the set of Good Morning America and promote his new movie, The Shack, which opens nationwide on Friday, March 3.

The Louisiana native, whose acting credits included Friday Night Lights, The Blindside and Tomorrowland, co-stars in The Shack, which is based on the New York Times best-selling novel by William Paul Young.

Tim was also tapped, with the help of wife Faith Hill, Lori McKenna and Shane McAnally, to write a song—”Keep Your Eyes on Me”—for the movie’s soundtrack.

“I saw a really early version of the movie,” Tim told host Robin Roberts. “Shane McAnally, Lori McKenna, Faith and I watched the movie to try to figure out the song idea. So we were writing songs and writing ideas on notepads, in the middle of crying throughout the whole thing. At the end of the movie, we went in a room and we sort of sit down and discuss what we wanted to write and we all had the same note right at the top—‘keep your eyes on me’—because it was a line out of the film. We went back to our house about a week later and wrote the song, ‘Keep Your Eyes on Me.’ It’s the first time Faith and I had ever written a song we recorded.”

The Shack tells the story of Mack Phillips [Sam Worthington] whose daughter is thought to be kidnapped and murdered, which sends Mack into a deep depression. Mack later receives a mysterious letter from Papa—his wife’s nickname for God— which leads him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. At the shack, Mack encounters a trio of strangers led by Papa [Octavia Spencer], who helps him through this tragedy and changes his life.

Tim also talked about being on the road for his upcoming Soul2Soul Tour with Faith, which kicks off April 7 in New Orleans. “I just do what she says, man,” Tim says.

Watch Tim talk about his Grammy-winning hit, “Humble & Kind,” The Shack and Soul2Soul Tour.

10 Times Thomas Rhett and Wife Lauren Show They Just Might Be the Cutest Couple Ever

10 Times Thomas Rhett and Wife Lauren Show They Just Might Be the Cutest Couple Ever

Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren Akins have a long history together. They met in first grade and dated briefly at age 15, eventually going their separate ways while remaining friends. But their love was too much to deny and they married in 2012.

They are so much in love that TR even wrote the songs “Die a Happy Man” and “Star of the Show”—among others—about his beautiful wife.

“Baby, that red dress brings me to my knees / Oh, but that black dress makes it hard to breathe / You’re a saint, you’re a Goddess, / The cutest, the hottest, / A masterpiece / It’s too good to be true, / Nothing better than you / In my wildest dreams,” TR sings in “Die a Happy Man.”

Nash Country Daily has followed the couple (not in a stalker-ish way) as they revealed how adorably cute they really are on Instagram. Here are 10 precious moments—we had to narrow it down from A LOT—that prove TR and Lauren just might be the cutest country couple ever.

1. TR credits his wife for being the reason his show was amazing. Can you say, Awwww?

3. TR, in turn, uses Lauren for support after winning the ACM Award for Single of The Year” for—you guessed it—a song in which TR professes his undying love for his wife, “Die a Happy Man.”

4. They even dress alike. While trying to be creepy, the couple still looks so darn cute.

5. They take beach fitness very serious.

5 Million Strong & Garthing: Garth Brooks Celebrates Garthonian Accomplishment in Garth-Like Fashion

5 Million Strong & Garthing: Garth Brooks Celebrates Garthonian Accomplishment in Garth-Like Fashion

Five million strong . . . and growing Garthing.

Garth Brooks achieved another gargantuan Garthonian accomplishment on Friday night (Feb. 24) in Edmonton, Canada, as he celebrated the five millionth ticket sold during his Garth Brooks World Tour.

To commemorate the feat, Garth and company celebrated in grandiose Garth-like style with plaques, a banner and a video message from “The Great One,” NHL Hall of Fame member Wayne Gretzky.

60 cities! 5 MILLION tickets sold!! YOU made this happen!!! #Garth5Million TONIGHT!!!! – Team Garth #YEG

A post shared by Garth Brooks (@garthbrooks) on

The surprise presentation began as Garth’s queen, wife Trisha Yearwood, interrupted her own set to celebrate his achievement. Garth was presented with two plaques commemorating selling 5 million tickets over the course of two different tours, the first of which occurred during the 100th show of his 1996–1998 tour. To put his recent accomplishment of selling 5 million tickets into perspective, the Edmonton show was the 60th show of his current World Tour.

As Garth tried to leave the stage after the plaque presentation, he was beckoned back for the unveiling of a new banner that now hangs from the rafters in Rogers Place alongside the championship banners of the Edmonton Oliers of the NHL.

“We raised banners for Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Stanley Cup. But tonight, we want to raise a banner for Garth,” said Bob Nicholson, CEO of the Oilers Entertainment Group. “Garth, what you’ve done for this city, you’ve still got a few nights to go, but they love you here, I tell ya. It’s unbelievable and we want Garth and his whole team to come back.”

But the fun wasn’t over yet. In a video that played on the big screen, Oilers great Wayne Gretzky offered a congratulatory message.

“Hello, Edmonton, hi, I’m Wayne Gretzky,” he said. “And I just wanted to send my congratulations to Garth Brooks on a great achievement. As you can tell, we have the greatest fans in the world, in Edmonton and in Alberta. Congratulations to you and Trisha on a wonderful night. Congratulations.”

Before the show, TMZ reported that Garth surprised the 5 millionth fan, a husband and wife, with two new automobiles, a $5,000 Amazon shopping spree, a $5,000 Edmonton Mall shopping spree and a trip for two to Las Vegas.

All in a day’s work for the G-man.

Justin Moore’s Oldest Daughter, Ella, Refuses to Have Another Sister

Justin Moore’s Oldest Daughter, Ella, Refuses to Have Another Sister

Justin Moore and his wife Kate are expecting their fourth child this summer and their oldest daughter, Ella—who just turned 7 on Feb. 15— is making it clear to her parents that she does not, under any circumstance, want another sister. The oldest of three girls has enough sisters and will have nothing to do with the new baby, if turns out to be another little girl.

“Ella said, ‘If it’s a girl, I won’t never talk to it, I won’t claim it, I won’t never hold it, I don’t even want to see it,'” Justin explains.  “And so Kate was going, ‘Well, it very well may be a girl. You’re a girl. What if we’d have thought that about you?’  And she said, ‘I don’t care, I don’t want another one. We’ve got enough.’ So, needless to say, she wants a little brother (laughs).”

It’s hard to tell the feelings of his other two daughters, Kennedy (5) and Klein (2), as they have not expressed their feelings as strongly as their older sister.

Ken’s not as strong with her words, which is surprising because typically she’s the strongest,” Justin adds.  “She’s insane, but she wants a little brother as well.  And then Klein just keeps going to school, pre-school, and telling her teacher she’s got a baby in her belly.  So, I don’t think she completely comprehends what’s happening.”

Here’s hoping that Justin and Kate have a baby boy—for Ella’s sake.

Before I go on I wanted to wish a happy bday to my oldest baby, E. Missin my girls tonight.

The Swon Brothers’ Colton Swon Gets Engaged

The Swon Brothers’ Colton Swon Gets Engaged

Congratulations are going out to Colton Swon, one half of the country duo Swon Brothers, and his girlfriend, Indie rock singer/songwriter Caroline Glaser, on their engagement.

The couple, who met on Season 4 of The Voice, had a bit of a cinematic engagement. Because the lovebirds are big fans of the movies, Colton made a plan on Saturday (Feb. 25) to take Caroline to the movies—what she didn’t know was that Colton had a self-made trailer, composed of photos from their time together, run on screen prior to the film.

Taking it one step further, Colton got down on one knee in front of family and friends, who he invited to be in the theater for the big proposal.

Colton posted a picture of the ring on his Instagram page saying, “She said YES! I get to marry my best friend y’all! I’ve been dreaming her up my whole life and she’s so much more than what my simple mind could come up with.Thank you Lord for this amazing girl and these two amazing families. Forever ain’t long enough.”

It turned out to be quite a weekend for Colton as The Swon Brothers just released their new single “Don’t Call Me” on Friday (Feb. 24), the lead single to their upcoming EP Pretty Cool Scars, set to be released March 17th.
