Luke Bryan Thanks Fans for Prayers After the Passing of His Niece

Our condolences go out to Luke and Caroline Bryan and their family after the passing of their niece, Sadie Brett Boyer, who was the daughter of Bo Boyer (Caroline’s brother) and Ellen Wells Boyer. Brett, as the baby was affectionately known, suffered from a congenital heart defect, according to Ellen’s Facebook page.

Ellen has been updating friends and family of Baby Brett’s prognosis dating back to November 2016. As of yesterday, Brett took a turn for the worse, and her mother posted the following messages on Facebook. “Brett had declined overnight. Please-Please pray with us. Please pray for this infection to clear and for her liver to be able to work properly.”

Today (Feb. 21), Nash Country Daily has learned of Brett’s passing. Luke took to his Twitter account to thank his fans for their support, saying, “We thank all of you for your prayers. Love y’all.”

It’s another sad loss for the Bryan family. In 1996, Luke’s older brother, Chris, died in a car accident, followed by the unexpected death of his sister, Kelly, in 2007. In 2015, tragedy struck again when Luke’s brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, passed away.

NCD sends our condolences to Luke, Caroline, Bo, Ellen and the entire Bryan-Boyer family.

Singer/songwriter Nick Hickman stopped by NASH morning show Ty, Kelly & Chuck for today’s 10-minute tune, which challenges artists to craft a song—in 10 minutes or less—on a relevant topic of the day.

Nick’s 10-minute tune topic: Angelina Jolie and her kids eating spiders and crickets on a trip to Cambodia.

Watch Nick draw inspiration from Old Dominion’s “Break Up With Him” for the bugged-out ballad.

Sign Here: Tattooing Jennifer Nettles’ Handwriting on Your Body Is Fine With Her

Country stars are constantly bombarded with all kinds of interesting requests from fans, and Jennifer Nettles is no exception. The Georgia native often gets asked to sign her name or write out lyrics to her songs on her fans’ bodies.

“I find the most intriguing of requests to be when people want me to sign or write something in my handwriting that they then get tattooed,” Jennifer said.

Although the “Unlove You” singer admits her handwriting is horrible, she doesn’t mind the requests and even takes them as compliments.

“That for me, I love the art of tattoo and it is such an intimate and personal art form. And the fact that people, you know, connect with my lyrics and then want them to be in my own handwriting, that’s something for me that feels pretty special and pretty unique.”

Jennifer sports a few tattoos of her own, including the word “Believe” on her wrist, a heart with wings on the inside of her right bicep and a flower on her hip.

“People tattoo for different reasons,” she told the Colorado Springs Gazette. “I use a tattoo as a marker of time to be reminded of a time in my life. It is something special and personal. There’s a lyric in my song ‘Take Me as I Am’—‘We all live with the scars we choose.’ Some scars are given to us and some we choose.”

We can’t wait to see what Jennifer chooses next.

Kelsea, who was recently nominated for ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, has toured with some of country’s top stars, including Billy Currington and Rascal Flatts.

“I love going on the road with people that I’m a fan of, like that’s been the coolest thing so far is getting to perform and introduce myself to people that don’t know me yet, or getting to sing my songs for people that do,” Kelsea adds. “And then, going out and watching a show of an artist that I’m a fan of and getting re-inspired. And, I’m a huge fan of him—his wife [Lauren] is everything, and yeah, I’m stoked.”

TR will kick off his 15-date 2017 Home Team Tour in Saginaw, Mich., on Feb. 23 with the help of Kelsea, Russell Dickerson and Ryan Hurd.

Watch Drake White Surprise Southwest Airlines Passengers With In-Flight Performance

Watch Drake White Surprise Southwest Airlines Passengers With In-Flight Performance

Passengers flying from Dallas to Nashville on Monday morning (Feb. 20) were in for a surprise when Drake White stepped up to a microphone and performed several songs for unassuming flyers.

“Sorry if y’all wanted to sleep on this flight,” Drake apologized. “It’s not gonna happen.”

Drake’s set was in partnership with Southwest Airlines and Live in the Vineyard’s Live at 35, a series where artists perform 35,000 feet in the air. It was a unique experience for both Drake and his band as well as passengers on board. While Drake has previously toured with Zac Brown Band at baseball stadiums and is now headlining his own Spark Tour, he admitted there was no way to prepare for this performance.

“We’ve played so much and so many different places,” Drake told Nash Country Daily after his performance as the Southwest flight made its descent into Nashville. “Everything from Domino’s Pizza to Fenway Park. You just accept it. You just get on up and let your heart do the talking.”

Accompanied by his guitarist and another band member playing washboard, Drake began his set at the front of the plane with “Story” as passengers looked on, snapped photos and filmed video. He then segued into his current single, “Makin’ Me Look Good Again,” which he wrote about his wife.

As Drake recalled, he walked out one day with his wife on his arm and his father-in-law said, “Man, she makes you look good.” That comment stuck with Drake when he met up with Monty Criswell and Shane Minor for a writing session.

“This lifestyle we live is so rough. It’s as rough as you make it,” said Drake. “Being in a van for all those years and schlepping on the road, trying to stay in cheap motels and make ends meet . . . I would come in and my clothes would be dirty, I’d need a shave. That’s where that song came from. She comes in, she makes me look good, she makes me feel good and recharges those batteries. She’s such a nurturer and great person to be around. She makes me better. That’s what the song is.”

Drake then recalled advice his own father gave him: “The less you make life about yourself the better it gets.” Drake said the reason he wrote the song is for the people all over the world who put others first.

The singer put many young passengers first throughout his performance Monday morning as he made his way to the back of the plane, pointing out a young girl with headphones on and picking up a baby as he sang and freestyled. It was an experience Drake said he’d gladly do again.

“Flying is pretty nerve-wracking,” he admits. “It was really cool to get back there to see little kids standing up on the tray tables and making up songs about them and just brighten up everybody’s day. If I can brighten up somebody’s day for a little while, it’s worth it,” he concedes.

Jason Aldean and Wife Brittany Looking to Add More Kids to Their Family of Four

May 8, 2017 UPDATE:

Jason Aldean and Wife Brittany Are Expecting Their First Child

Life is good for Jason Aldean and it looks like it could be getting better in the near future. The “Tonight Looks Good on You” singer is not shy about revealing that he and his wife, Brittany Kerr, would like to have more children.

“It’s definitely something we’ve talked about and something we want to do,” Jason told NASH Prep. “And, I think that’s just kinda like whenever it’s meant to be, it’s just gonna happen. You know, I’d like to say it’s gonna happen next week, but that’s just kind of—that’s a little up in the air there. But, I’m definitely—we’re down for that 100 percent, and, you know, we’ll see whenever that time comes.”

Jason, already a father of two young daughters—Keeley (13) and Kendyl (8)—from a previous marriage, married Brittany in 2015 during a beach ceremony in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The couple will be celebrating their two year anniversary on March 21.

The Georgia native will be hitting the road for his They Don’t Know Tour, which kicks off on April 27 in Toledo, Ohio. Brittany is known to join her husband on tour, so they’ll have plenty of time together.
