Jamie Lynn Spears’ 8-year-old Daughter, Maddie, Shows Signs of Improvement [Update]

Jamie Lynn Spears’ 8-year-old daughter, Maddie Aldridge, is showing signs of improvement after being flown to the hospital in critical condition, following an ATV accident on Sunday, Feb. 5.

Jamie Watson, Jamie Lynn’s husband and Maddie’s stepfather, took to his Instagram account to let the world know that Maddie is currently doing “better and better.” The picture he posted was of a shirt with the words “believe in miracles” printed on it. The caption of the post read, “Thank you to everyone for the prayers. Maddie is doing better and better. Thank ya’ll so much.”

Maddie, was hospitalized after an ATV accident in which the child drove into a pond on family property and was submerged for a short period of time. According to reports, Maddie was airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans where she was in critical, but stable, condition.

According to a statement on People, supplied by the Spears family, Maddie is “aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident.” She appears to not have “suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.”

Last night (Feb. 8) Maddie’s aunt, Britney Spears, also gave an update on her niece’s condition and thanked everyone for their prayers. Britney posted the following note on her Twitter account: “We are so grateful to share that Maddie is making progress. Thank you all for sending thoughts and prayers our way. Let’s all keep praying.”

NCD wishes Maddie a very speedy recovery.

Watch Brett Young Make His National TV Debut With Performance of His No.1 Hit, “Sleep Without You”

There may be a blizzard hitting New York City this morning (Feb. 9) but that didn’t stop newcomer Brett Young from making his national TV debut on the Today Show. As the snow fell down on the streets of New York, the California native performed his No. 1 hit, “Sleep Without You,” during the show’s fourth hour.

Brett’s breakout single, which ascended to the top of charts in November 2016, is the lead track from his self-titled debut album, set to drop tomorrow (Feb. 10). Brett’s second single, “In Case You Didn’t Know,” was released on Jan 9.

The newcomer took a minute to chat with hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford about getting his first No. 1 single. “It took a couple of weeks for it to even really sink in,” Brett shared with the hosts before his performance. “It was really really an honor and a cool experience.”

That’s one cool experience Brett can take off his bucket list. Check him out on the Today Show.

Jennifer Nettles Shares Her Embarrassing Encounter With Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen on the “Today” Show

Jennifer Nettles Shares Her Embarrassing Encounter With Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen on the “Today” Show

Reba did it on Monday (Feb. 6), Keith Urban did it on Tuesday (Feb. 7) and Jennifer Nettles did it today (Feb. 9). And by “it,” we mean play a game of country confessions while co-hosting the third hour of the Today show

Jennifer joined hosts Al Roker and Shenielle Jones as they once again pulled out their question-filled cowboy boot. Jennifer reached into the boot and snagged a few questions to answer, including who is your most embarrassing celebrity encounter?

The “Unlove You” singer explained, “You know what, I am awful at this anyway because I get very nervous and I fan-girl and I try not to make myself feel foolish, but often times no matter what, I do. So I try not to talk a lot when I get around people I really, really admire.

“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many. For example, I just did the Rainforest benefit that Sting does at Carnegie Hall. And Bruce Springsteen was there, who I had the honor of honoring at Kennedy Center honors a few years ago, and, of course, I was like ‘Hey Bruce, yeah, I honored you at Kennedy Center Honors, bye,’ because what do you say, he meets so many people.”

Watch Jennifer play a round of country confessions, which includes her naming her go-to Karaoke song.

Kenny will be the featured performer at the House of Blues’ Amazing Race show, which is hosted by NFL quarterback Drew Brees and actor Matthew McConaughey. The show, which Kenny headlined in 2012 and 2014, will benefit Drew’s The Brees Dream Foundation and Matthew’s Just Keep Livin Foundation.

The ticket pre-sale for No Shoes Nation premium members will begin on Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. CT, while general public tickets go on sale two hours later at noon CT. If it’s anything like past events, you can expect a sellout immediately.

Vince Gill’s Daughter, Jenny Gill, Gets Personal on Debut EP, “The House Sessions”

Vince Gill’s Daughter, Jenny Gill, Gets Personal on Debut EP, “The House Sessions”

When your father is Vince Gill and your mother is Janis Oliver of the Sweethearts of the Rodeo, music is bound to run in your blood. Jenny Gill proves that she got the musical gene from her parents with the release of her new EP, The House Sessions.

“Every song on this project takes me to somewhere in my past,” Jenny says in a statement. “My favorite songs to write are those that reflect personal experiences, instead of just telling a story.”

Jenny—who has been honing her chops as a backup singer for her stepmom, Amy Grant, for the last six years—wrote or co-wrote five of the six songs on the autobiographical EP, which is slated for release on Feb. 17.

With Vince Gill producing the album, there was no doubt that it would contain some of Nashville’s top musicians, including Sheryl Crow, Jon Randall, Willie Weeks and Jack Pearson.

“People have a preconceived perception of me because of my name, that I am country or that my talent should be at a certain place because of my parents’ accomplishments,” she says. “It’s hard to get people to notice you on your own and not for being a plus-one. So that is what The House Sessions is attempting to do. I am done waiting in the wings wondering what could happen. I’m ready to try and build something all on my own.”

Check out Jenny’s video for “Lonely Lost Me.”

Listen to Brooke Eden’s Moving New Single, “Act Like You Don’t”

Brooke Eden has released a new single, “Act Like You Don’t,” from her current EP, Welcome to the Weekend, and it’s got the makings of a hit for the newcomer.

The song, written by Brooke, Cary Barlowe and Jesse Frasure, finds Brooke talking to an ex, pleading for space so that she can heal from the heartbreak. The despair in the 28-year-old’s powerhouse vocals feels like a punch to the gut.

“When you want to have a late night drive by / Drunk dial my phone around midnight / Say you miss me waking up by your side / Act like you don’t, like you don’t / Let’s play a little game and pretend / Like you don’t know where I go on the weekends / When you want to show up with your friends / Act like you don’t, like you don’t,” Brooke croons in the chorus.

“[Writing the song] helped me work through a breakup and land on my feet on the other side,” Brooke said in a release.

And listening to the song can help the rest of us. If you’ve ever been through a breakup and still long for your ex—and let’s face it, most of us have—“Act Like You Don’t” is a healing elixir that can help you find the strength to move on from a relationship that was never right.

“Act Like You Don’t” can be found on Brooke’s debut EP, Welcome to the Weekend, available on iTunes.

In Honor of Travis Tritt’s 54th Birthday Today, We’re Throwing It Back to a Video Breakdown of the Greatest Song About Pocket Change in Country Music History

In Honor of Travis Tritt’s 54th Birthday Today, We’re Throwing It Back to a Video Breakdown of the Greatest Song About Pocket Change in Country Music History

Happy 54th birthday to the man, the myth, the legend . . . Travis Tritt. The double-Grammy winner was born in Marietta, Ga., on Feb. 9, 1963. In honor of Travis’ b-day, we’re throwing it back to a video breakdown of “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares).”

Today’s installment features the video to Travis’ 1991 Billboard No. 2 hit, “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares),” complete with timely notes to help you further appreciate the nuances of Travis’ irresistible manliness.

Let’s get started.

“Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)”

0:04travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-1

This is our first clear look at Travis, with his beautiful mane of hair bobbing in the breeze as he exits his bus. Notice Travis’s casual bus attire: Harley-Davidson wolf t-shirt, skintight jeans and a belt with triple conchos. Classy. You’ll also notice Travis has something in his left hand.

Yeah, it’s a quarter . . . because he can’t fit it in the pocket of his skintight jeans.

0:13travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-2

A slight continuity problem as Travis’ truck keys magically appear in hand. There’s no way he got those out of his pocket. Nonetheless, we move on.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-30:16

We get a close-up of Travis’ love interest, who, for some reason, “wants to come back” to him.

SIDEBAR The actress playing the love interest, Leighanne Wallace, later married Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-40:24

Unmoved by his former lover’s plea, Travis flips her a quarter, because in 1991, that’s how much it cost to use a pay phone.

Nowadays, the song would be titled, “Here’s a Cell Phone (Call Someone Who Cares).”

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-50:30

Now we cut to a live performance shot of Travis singing “Here’s a Quarter.” Travis has decided to sport a puffy pirate shirt and black vest for this showcase, and man, does he pull it off in style.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-60:51

We get our first glimpse of Travis’ girl having a “sordid affair.”

It’s hurts, Travis, it hurts.

She also cats around at 1:04, 1:28, 1:31, 1:37, 1:57 and 2:21.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-71:08

Cut to Travis in a diner reading a newspaper. The headline: “Donald Gives Ivanna a QUARTER of a Billion.” The “Donald,” of course, is Donald Trump.

This eerie precursor to the present day is our first hint that Travis may, in fact, be Nostradamus.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-81:16

Travis breaks the fourth wall by making eye contact with the camera. He’s allowed to do this because he’s a badass.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-91:24

Cut to a yard sale with Travis donning a Hawaiian shirt, white pants and sunglasses. Being a cuckold never looked so comfortable.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-101:32

We’re back to Travis’ live performance of the song, and now he’s flipping a quarter behind his back and catching it. Impressive on all accounts.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-112:09

Back at the yard sale, Travis’s ex drives by in a convertible. It was ’91, so convertibles were super-cool. We’re lucky it wasn’t a three-wheeled ATV. Travis lowers his shades to show her exactly what’s she lost, seemingly saying, “This guy, right here.”

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-122:43

Still at the yard sale, a kid with an ice cream cone gives the trampy woman a quarter for a stuffed bunny. This pleases Travis, very much, as evidenced by what we imagine to be a very guttural laugh.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter2:47

Through the magic of 1991 cinematography, a quarter—which, I forgot to mention, was flying mid-air throughout the video after Travis flipped it at the :26 mark—lands in the pay phone slot.

Bull’s-eye, baby.

travis-tritt-throwback-thursday-heres-a-quarter-132:50

Travis gets in his truck and leaves. End scene. End awesomeness.
