5 Songs That Influenced Chase Rice’s Music Career

5 Songs That Influenced Chase Rice’s Music Career

In Chase Rice’s 31 years on this planet, he’s had a few different incarnations, especially in the last 10 years. From college football player at the University of North Carolina and NASCAR pit crew member to Survivor contestant and country artist, Chase has had his thumb in a lot of different pies over the last decade.

As Chase gears up for the release of his upcoming fourth studio album, tentatively slated to drop this summer, we decided to put the North Carolina native in the hot seat to ask him to name five songs that influenced his music career. Check out what he had to say.

5. “Anything But Mine” by Kenny Chesney.
“It takes me back to summertime.”

4. “Those I’ve Loved” by Eric Church
“It wasn’t a single, but it was his ‘Carolina Can,’ a song with a very personal viewpoint.”

3. “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine Show
“We jammed out to it in college and would crank it up before going out.”

2. “Ready Set Roll” by Chase Rice
“That song literally allowed me to have a career.”

1. “The Dance” by Garth Brooks.
“That’s my number one song, period.”

Surprise [Not Really]! The Band Perry Changes Plans and Goes Pop [Listen]

Surprise [Not Really]! The Band Perry Changes Plans and Goes Pop [Listen]

Remember back in August 2016 when The Band Perry came out with their new single, “Comeback Kid,” after a year away from the spotlight and told everyone they weren’t going pop? Well, liar, liar, pants on fire.

The sibling trio took to their social media pages last night (Feb. 2) with a letter to their fans letting them know that the band has created a pop album.

The post on Twitter reads: “To our fans – We’ve made an album for you. Creating it has been the most exciting thing we’ve ever done. It’s led us to disrupt everything that was comfortable and familiar to us a short year ago. If there’s one thing we’ve learned in making it it’s this – being yourself matters. It matters even when not everyone agrees that you should be or understands why it’s important that you are.

“The album is called My Bad Imagination. It’s our very first pop album and tonight the first track will be out everywhere, it’s called “Stay In The Dark.” Listen loud.

“Thank you for your love, your patience, and for your trust. Come with us.”

She’s Baaack! Kelsea Ballerini Returns to Social Media After Two Week Absence

She’s Baaack! Kelsea Ballerini Returns to Social Media After Two Week Absence

Kelsea Ballerini wasn’t joking when she said she was taking a two week break from social media back in January.

“The Love Me Like You Mean It” singer announced her hiatus from social media outlets, including Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook, on Jan. 19 to focus on writing, recording and completing her sophomore album. During her absence, Kelsea’s team was posting any pertinent information her fans needed about shows and upcoming events. But Kelsea’s bubbly personality was missing.

However, Thursday morning (Feb. 2) the blonde beauty returned to social media, exactly two weeks from the day she left. Kelsea jumped on Twitter to let her fans know she was back. “I’m back!!! I love you and thanks for being so awesome and letting me take some time away. 2017 is gonna be FUN.”

She then went to Instagram to let the world know that the songs for her second album were done. “Also. kb2 is written,” she posted. Two weeks away apparently did Kelsea well and now all we have to do is await the arrival of the follow-up to her debut album, The First Time. With three number one hits off of her debut album—and a possible fourth if “Yeah Boy” hits the top spot—we can’t help but wonder what’s in store for the sophomore album.

We’re just glad she’s back.

Also. kb2 is written. 🙈

Zac Brown Band Returns to Their Roots With New Single, “My Old Man” [Listen]

Zac Brown Band Returns to Their Roots With New Single, “My Old Man” [Listen]

“We’re going in [the studio] this winter to make a brand-new ZBB record—straight back to our roots, Foundation style,” said Zac Brown in September regarding the band’s upcoming album, Welcome Home, which drops on May 12.

Today (Feb. 3), we got our first taste of Zac’s aforementioned rooty sound with the release of the album’s lead single, “My Old Man”—and Zac has lived up to his promise.

Produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson), “My Old Man” is a definite throwback to ZBB’s early sound, deviating 180 degrees from the band’s 2015 album, Jekyll + Hyde, which pushed the country boundaries with traces of electronic music, hard rock and big band sounds.

Watch ZBB’s lyric video for “My Old Man,” which features a father/song photo journal of the band’s members.

“My Old Man” lyrics

He was a giant
And I was just a kid
I was always trying
To do everything he did
I can still remember every lesson he taught me
Growing up learning how to be like my old man

[Verse 2]
He was a lion
We were our father’s pride
But I was defiant
When he made me walk the line
He knew how to lift me up
And when to let me fall
Looking back, he always had a plan
My old man

[Chorus]
My old man
Feel the callous on his hands
And dusty overalls
My old man
Now I finally understand
I have a lot to learn
From my old man

[Verse 3]
Now I’m a giant
Got a son of my own
He’s always trying
To go everywhere I go
Do the best I can to raise him up the right way
Hoping that he someday wants to be
Like his old man

[Break]

[Chorus]
My old man
I know one day we’ll meet again
As he’s looking down
My old man
I hope he’s proud of who I am
I’m trying to fill the boot of my old man

[Outro]
My old man
