Watch Miranda Lambert’s Heartwarming Performance of “The House That Built Me”

The holidays would not have been the same without a special performance from one of country’s leading ladies, Miranda Lambert. Two days before Christmas (Dec.23), Miranda took part in the 18th annual A Home for the Holidays TV special on CBS.

Miranda headlined the show, performing her 2010 hit single “The House That Built Me,” as well as “Pushin’ Time” and “Keeper of the Flame” from her current album, The Weight of These Wings. Joining Miranda for the pre-taped program were artists LL Cool J, Trace Adkins, Alessia Cara and Rachel Platten.

A Home for the Holidays helps brings awareness to children in foster care by highlighting heartwarming adoption stories with special star-studded performances.

“I hope this special can change some lives tonight in that they can sing the ‘House That Built Me’ in a couple of years because they have a home to call home,” Miranda said.

Miranda released her sixth studio album, The Weight of These Wings, in November, which features the singles “Vice” and “We Should Be Friends.” Kicking off the new year, Miranda will be headlining the Highway Vagabond Tour, which begins Jan. 26 in Evansville, Ind.

Love and Theft’s Stephen Barker Liles and Wife Jenna Reveal Gender of Baby No. 2 in the Cutest Way

Engagements and baby announcements are running rampant in country music this holiday season. On Christmas Day, Kelsea Ballerini and Kacey Musgraves announced their engagements and Ashley Monroe announced that she and her husband are expecting their first child. Yesterday (Dec. 26), Love and Theft’s Stephen Barker Liles and his wife Jenna joined in the fun by announcing that they are expecting their second child and revelaed the baby’s gender—a girl—in the cutest way.

jett-liles-stephen-barker-liles-sonThe new baby girl will join big brother Jett in the family, making the Liles household a family of four.  On Christmas morning, Jett got one heck of a present from his parents. Stephen and Jenna had Jett open a box that contained a helium balloon—which floated out of the box—revealing the baby’s gender.

“We could have found out the sex of the baby [before now], but it was worth the wait. We couldn’t be more excited. We haven’t decided the name yet. We both come from big families and are excited to start our own big family,” said Stephen in a statement.

Not only will 2017 bring a new baby for Stephen, but Love and Theft have also signed with a new label, Curb Records, and released their new single, “Candyland,” which will get a big push at the beginning of next year.

We’re looking forward to big things from Love and Theft in the new year. Congratulations to the growing family.

Carrie Underwood Remembers George Michael: “His Voice Helped to Teach Me How to Sing”

Pop superstar George Michael, 53, died unexpectedly on Christmas Day at his home in Goring in Oxfordshire, England, from suspected heart failure. As a member of the duo Wham! and as a solo artist, George sold tens of millions of albums and influenced a bevy of artists across all genres.

Carrie Underwood shared a post on Instagram about the influence George had on her music, stating: “I never told him (mainly because I thought I’d freak him out) but #georgemichael has always been such an influence on me. As a child, his was the first voice I could pick out of the sea of voices I heard on the radio. Before I knew anything about him, I knew his voice. As an adult, I cried when I saw him in concert. His songs and his voice helped to teach me how to sing. I will forever regret not letting him know…Thank you, George, for giving the world your gifts…may you rest in peace.”

Kelsea Ballerini Gets Engaged to Boyfriend Morgan Evans

Kelsea Ballerini Gets Engaged to Boyfriend Morgan Evans

Love must be in the air this Christmas season.

Only hours after Kacey Musgraves announced her engagement to boyfriend Ruston Kelly, Kelsea Ballerini has followed suit with an announcement on Twitter that she is engaged to boyfriend Morgan Evans.

After a nine-month courtship, Kelsea’s Aussie beau, who is a singer/songwriter, got down on one knee this morning (Dec. 25) and presented Kelsea with a cushioned-cut diamond ring with a diamond band while she was cooking pancakes.

Go ahead and insert the obligatory: He called “Dibs.” He’s no “Peter Pan.” He got the “Love Me Like You Mean It” memo.

Morgan posted a tweet as well.

Congrats to the happy couple.

Kacey Musgraves Gets Engaged to Boyfriend Ruston Kelly

Kacey Musgraves got more than a hippopotamus for Christmas as boyfriend Ruston Kelly got down on one knee and asked her to be his bride on Christmas Eve.

But Kacey didn’t just say “yes.” According to her Instagram post, she said, “HELL YESSSS!!”

Kacey posted a pic of the traditional round rock with a gold band this morning (Dec. 25) on Instagram with the following message: “I didn’t say yes…I said HELL YESSSS!! Last night the best man I’ve ever met got down on one knee in my little pink childhood home..in the same room I played with my ponies and barbies and asked me the easiest question I’ve ever been asked. ❤ I finally know what everyone means when they say “you just know.'”

Ruston is a Nashvile-based singer/songwriter who has penned songs for Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, and he has toured with Robert Earl Keen and the Lumineers.

Kacey also included an additional post with details about how the engagement unfolded, as well as a video: “We had just been at my parent’s house randomly having a night of watching bittersweet old home tapes of all these beautiful family memories that were made in this little, old country house I grew up in that I now have. We came back to that house afterwards and he had somehow pulled off having my sister + brother in-law completely decorate my childhood bedroom in the most nostalgic and perfect Christmas decorations. I was bewildered and confused when I saw it all and turned around and the song “Two For The Road” by Henry Mancini was playing (this song is so emotional and sweet..it’s one of my favorites..you have to go listen) and he was on his knee with a baby pink velvet ring box and the sparkliest thing I’ve ever seen! 💖It was so special. Of all the places in the world I’ve gotten to see, nowhere could mean more than this happening in tiny Golden, Texas in the house that completely made me who I am.”

Brett Eldredge Shares Christmas Memories and Bakes Cookies With Family

Brett Eldredge Shares Christmas Memories and Bakes Cookies With Family

It’s been a country friendly week on the Today Show. Correspondent Jenna Bush Hager went to Nashville to visit Hillary Scott and the Scott Family as part of Jenna’s Country Christmas on Wednesday (Dec. 21) and this morning (Dec. 23) she moseyed on over to Brett Eldredge’s house to talk about his Christmas album, Glow, Christmas memories and, believe it or not, to bake some cookies.

“Since I was a little kid I loved Christmas music,” Brett says of the holiday season. “I remember I’d get up at 6 a.m. every Christmas and I’d crank it up and make all my family wake up—they’d be so mad at me. I was like ‘I love Christmas so much.’ I wanted everybody to feel in the spirit.”

Brett invited Jenna into his kitchen—along with his mom, dad and brother—to bake some chocolate chip cookies and celebrate his family traditions. The cookies even got Brett’s seal of approval. “Oh, they’re good,” he said after tasting the cookies right from the oven. You can find Brett’s recipe for the cookies on the Today Show website.

“My favorite childhood Christmas memory actually still happens to this day,” adds Brett. “It’s a tradition we’ve kept in my family since my first Christmas and that’s we’d go to the Christmas Eve service at the little church in Paris, Illinois. I love where I come from.”

Rascal Flatts Answers 8 Random Questions: The Christmas Version

Rascal Flatts Answers 8 Random Questions: The Christmas Version

It took 16 years for Rascal Flatts—Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney—to release the first Christmas album of their career, The Greatest Gift of All. The guys believed the timing was never right between their touring and new music, until this year.

“It just felt right,” Jay tells Nash Country Daily about the album now. “It felt like it was time and the fans have been asking for it for a long, long time. We gathered up a bunch of songs that have been our favorites over the years and just took our time and really had a ball making it.”

With the Christmas season upon us and all in festive moods, Nash Country Daily sat down with the boys from Rascal Flatts to find out a few of their favorite things around the holidays. Don’t be surprised if you find out something you didn’t know about the guys, like their favorite Christmas movie, what they would want for Christmas this year and which list of Santa’s they would be on.

Favorite reindeer?

Gary: Rudolph.
Jay: Donner.
Joe Don: Blitzen?

Heat Miser or Snow Miser?

Gary: Heat Miser. People said that my hair used to look like the Heat Miser. I’ve had some Heat Miser issues.
Jay: Snow Miser.
Joe Don: Heat Miser.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer or Frosty?

Gary: Rudolph.
Jay: Rudolph.
Joe Don: Frosty, I mean come on.

Favorite Christmas movie?

Gary: Jim Carrey’s The Grinch.
Jay:  Christmas Vacation.
Joe Don: A Christmas Story.

What do you want Santa to bring you this year?

Gary: Health. Keep the ticker ticking.
Jay: I’m content and happy, but if I could wish one thing it would be to spend more time with my family. It was a really busy year and we were gone a lot. As the kids start to get older and they start to realize that we leave a bunch, it starts to take a toll. So I would ask for more time with the people that I love.
Joe Don: Another choice in the election [laughs].

How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa?

Gary: Joe Don just found out. I was probably 10 years old when some idiot ruined it for me.
Jay: 38 [laughs] I was a little older when I stopped believing. I was 12.
Joe Don: WHAT? You don’t believe? It dawns on you but you still go with it. As a teenager I was like ‘Yeah, of course I believe.’ You get gifts.

Eggnog or wassail?

Gary: What? I’m going to have to go with what I know. Eggnog.
Jay: Grey Goose.
Joe Don: What? What’s wassail? Eggnog.

Judging only on this past year only, are you on Santa’s naughty or nice list?

Gary: Nice.
Jay: Naughty.
Joe Don: Nice.

And with that, Merry Christmas!
