Zac Brown Says ZBB Is Going “Straight Back to Our Roots” for New Album

Zac Brown Says ZBB Is Going “Straight Back to Our Roots” for New Album

Zac Brown Band’s 2008 debut album, The Foundation, was recently certified 5X-platiunum by the RIAA. Perhaps that was the magic number the boys needed to hear to get back to their roots.

After their wide-ranging 2015 album, Jekyll + Hyde, ZBB announced on Twitter today that they are returning to the studio this winter to begin recording their next album.

“Hey everybody, this is a message for our fans, for all the ZBB fans,” says Zac, appearing with the band. “Thank you so much for all your loyalty and all the love you’ve given us over the years. Jekyll + Hyde just went platinum and The Foundation just went five-times platinum, so thanks to all of you so much for that. We’re going in [the studio] this winter to make a brand-new ZBB record—straight back to our roots, Foundation style. It’s gonna be an amazing album, we’re very excited to announce to you that we’re making the new one. And thank you again for everything that you do for us. Thank you.”

Watch Kip Moore and Jon Pardi Do Their Own Version of Carpool Karaoke

Watch Kip Moore and Jon Pardi Do Their Own Version of Carpool Karaoke

As Kip Moore’s Me and My Kind of Tour is about to get underway, the sexy singer decided to kill some with pal and tour opener, Jon Pardi. The two friends created their own version of Carpool Karaoke—made famous by late night talk show host James Corden—where you drive around in a car singing various songs.

Kip and Jon hit the road in what looks to be a mini-van, taking turns driving passengers around the streets of Nashville as they sing a number of different songs including Mr. Big’s “To Be With You,” Stevie Wonder’s “Signed Sealed Delivered,” Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and, of course, Kip’s “Somethin’ Bout a Truck” and Jon’s “Head Over Boots.”

“You guys ready for the cab service?” Kip asks the passengers. “Alright, we’re gonna take you for a drive right quick. We need Grammy-award-winning performances out of you guys.”

By the looks of the video, Kip and Jon will be having a lot of fun together when the tour kicks off on Sept. 30 in Oklahoma City, Okla. If this is any indication of the shenanigans that will occur on the tour, you won’t want to miss it. Check out Kip and Jon’s carpool Karaoke.

Watch Miranda Lambert Crawl From the Wreckage in Metaphorical New “Vice” Music Video

Watch Miranda Lambert Crawl From the Wreckage in Metaphorical New “Vice” Music Video

In July, Miranda Lambert released the lead single, “Vice,” from her upcoming sixth studio album, which is tentatively set to drop later this year. Written by Miranda, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, “Vice” is Miranda’s first single since “Smokin’ and Drinkin'” in June 2015, and it is currently No. 17 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Today (Sept. 7), the Texas songbird released a new music video for “Vice,” and it’s full of metaphors that could be interpreted to represent her life after her recent divorce from Blake Shelton.

Here’s a quick play-by-play: Filmed in her home state in the small town of Smithville, the video opens with Miranda crawling out of a wrecked car. She walks through the small town, seemingly putting the wreckage behind her. Miranda visits a local bar and trades some bling for a shot and a smoke before leaving the town. She walks past a cemetery and comes to a crossroads. Miranda gets into the backseat of a driverless car that navigates without human input, and it appears Miranda is along for the ride.

Yup, is metaphorical all day.

Tequila, Tacos, Tunes and Tucker Beathard

Tequila, Tacos, Tunes and Tucker Beathard

Tequila, tacos, tunes and Tucker Beathard were on the lunch menu today at Nashville’s Saint Añejo restaurant.

Accompanied by only his guitar, the country music newcomer played five songs from his upcoming EP, Fight Like Hell, while an intimate gathering of industry insiders noshed on tacos and sipped margaritas.

Tucker’s six-song EP—of which he co-wrote every tune—is set to drop on Oct. 7 and features his current Top 10 single, “Rock On.” In addition to his single, Tucker performed “20–10 Tennessee,” “Momma and Jesus,” “I’ll Take on the World With You (Brother)” and the EP’s title track.

UnknownTucker, who is the son of Nashville songwriter Casey Beathard (Eric Church’s “Like a Wrecking Ball” and Kenny Chesney’s “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem”), took part in a Q&A from a handful of reporters and noted that he didn’t always see eye to eye with his songwriting father, but they’ve found common ground now that Tucker—in addition to growing up—is pursuing the life of a country artist.

“[There was] definitely some resistance,” says Tucker in regard to following in his father’s songwriting footsteps. “Naturally, ever since I was born, I gravitated toward music, but you know, I tried to stay away from anything that my dad was doing or anything like that. We fought a lot growing up. I was really stubborn. I got into a lot of trouble and we didn’t talk that much, but then when I started writing songs and we started writing songs, it just clicked and it kind of rekindled our relationship. And now we are really close, because we think a lot alike, and whether I like it or not, we work great together.”

Tucker is set to kick off his Rock On College Tour on Oct. 13 with support from Aubrie Sellers.

New Addition Ty Bentli Joins Kelly Ford and Chuck Wicks on “America’s Morning Show”

New Addition Ty Bentli Joins Kelly Ford and Chuck Wicks on “America’s Morning Show”

America’s Morning Show is Ty-ing one on.

Starting today (Sept. 6), Ty Bentli, who replaced Blair Garner as he moves to a late-night show in the Cumulus lineup, joined Kelly Ford and Chuck Wicks on AMS, and the new cast of characters couldn’t be happier about bringing you, the listeners, along for the ride.

“I think it’s about bringing the flavor of this city and the music we love to the whole country and doing it as a team here in the studio and with our listeners,” says Kelly to Nash Country Daily. “We need listeners to play a part in this and we are excited about engaging them in a way they haven’t been engaged with the show before.”

The change came when Blair Garner, the original host of the show, announced that he was stepping down from the lead chair to spend more time at home with his twin children and tackle his new late-night gig. Enter Ty Bentli.

Ty is the new guy in town—Kelly and Chuck were a part of America’s Morning Show prior to the change. Ty, an experienced radio personality comes from TK in Los Angeles. He brings along his wife and 3-year-old son to Music City.

“I haven’t felt this way since probably Chicago, which was my favorite job I’ve had so far,” Ty tells NCD. “It felt right, it felt at home. The talent that was around me—the people that were around me let me know that every piece is here, we can make this happen. I didn’t feel that in the last couple of circumstances.”

With the addition of Ty, new segments have been added to the morning rundown, including What’s Up Chuck?, Music City Breakdown, What The Ford? and Adulting.

“What’s up Chuck? is a more updated irreverent look at what’s trending—what everybody is talking about,” says Kelly. “Music City Breakdown is a collaborative look at the rumor mill in Nashville and country news. We have our finger on the pulse of what’s going on here. We are breaking country news. That’s something the show has been missing. We do know what’s going on and to bring that straight from the source is pretty cool.”

“What the Ford? is going to be a blast,” adds Ty. “Kelly’s going to call out all the crazy weirdos that are out there doing crazy stuff. Literally WTF, but our ‘F’ is Ford. For me, one of the early features we’ll implement is something called Adulting. I’m a young dad —Kelly’s been nice enough to say I’m a hot dad—who is a little bit in denial of the fact that I’m having to live a mature, responsible lifestyle now. It will consist of all of my adulting problems. I’m learning to be a grownup and that’s what you’ll get from me on the show.”

Another difference you’ll hear in the mornings is the interactive factor, which will translate to more audience engagement.

“We weren’t as accessible as we are now,” says Chuck. “We are traveling to markets we haven’t been in a while. We are going to NYC in a few days, we’re going to Boston, we’re gonna go to Detroit. We have plans to do big things with Lee Brice and do giveaways. We’re doing things and making the listener part of the team.”

“The new concept is that it will be a much more interactive show,” adds Ty. “We’ll be in touch with people more on social media and we’ll be out on the streets as much as possible. The interaction of our social media will be very important and the topics that we bring callers in on will be more important. We want to engage callers with their advice and their stories and press deeper into who they are. We care about our listeners and are intrigued by their stories. You’ll hear a very strong relationship between us.”

“The new show has more of everything,” says Kelly. “More energy, more interaction with listeners, more information from the center of the country universe—Music City.”

“We’re three people who care about each other, get mad at each other, who laugh with each other and it should be just that,” says Ty. “It’s real people trying to be as vulnerable and honest and sincere as possible about who we are on the air. You’re getting three people who are experiencing the fun and hilarity of life in Music City and at the same time realizing that we have little gaps in our knowledge and experiences and we need the help of the listener.”

Tune in to your NASH FM station every weekday morning from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. to hear Ty, Kelly and Chuck bring country music to your home.

Teary-eyed Garth Brooks Shares CMA Award Nomination Reaction and More From the Ryman

Teary-eyed Garth Brooks Shares CMA Award Nomination Reaction and More From the Ryman

Garth Brooks took to Facebook Live last night (Sep. 5) from the Ryman Auditorium to share his CMA Award nomination reaction story and more for the latest episode of his Inside Studio G video series.

On the morning of Aug. 31, Garth Brooks was awoken by a text from his friend Keith Urban. “Hey pard, congratulations.” Garth, still groggy, thanked him and went back to sleep.

Later in the morning Garth checked the news to confirm that he had just been nominated for this year’s CMA Entertainer of the Year award. Keith had failed to mention that he was himself also nominated for the award.

Garth texted a good-natured follow-up response, “Dude, really?”

Genuinely appreciative of the nomination, Garth wished all of the CMA award nominees good luck. “To get to be nominated for Entertainer of the Year is never one of those things you get used to,” said Garth, “especially this late in our career. Very sweet.”

Garth goes on to share more news and recollections—including a touching story about going with his wife Trisha Yearwood to the funeral of songwriter Harlan Howard, which took place at the Ryman—with the hallowed Ryman Auditorium stage in the background. Watch the full episode below!

In addition to the nominees in their respective yearly categories, the 2016 Honors & Awards Show will pay tribute to this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honorees: Bob Weir, Jim Lauderdale, William Bell, Billy Bragg and Shawn Colvin, as well as posthumously honoring the great Woody Guthrie.
