Early Voting in 2023 City of Knoxville Primary Election is Underway
Early voting in the 2023 City of Knoxville Primary Election starts today.
Several offices are on the ballot including Mayor, three City Council At-Large seats, Municipal Judge and a City Council Seat.
Early voting ends on the 24th with the 22nd your last chance to request an absentee ballot.
Election day is on August 29th

An Investigation is Underway Following Reports of an Explosion and a House Fire in North Knoxville which Injures a Firefighter
This morning at approximately 4:38 AM, The Knox County Emergency Communications District received a 911 call for a possible fire in the area of Medlin Heights Road and Dahila Drive.
As Knoxville Fire Department units responded, another caller advised the fire was located behind her home on Medlin Heights Road, and there was an explosion.
On arrival in the area, KFD located a home fully involved at the dead end of Fairview Drive.
KFD units quickly went to work attempting to extinguish the fire. However, the heavy volume of fire and the length of time the structure had been burning made it difficult to extinguish the fire quickly.
The owners/occupants were not home at the time of the fire, and as of 6:15 this morning, they have not been located or notified.
The home is a total loss.
The Knoxville Fire Department Fire Investigations Unit is on the scene, working to determine a cause.
One firefighter is being evaluated on the scene for a minor injury.

Emily Ann Roberts to Host Knoxville Album Release Show
Knoxville, TN (WOKI/WVLT) Country star and Knoxville native Emily Ann Roberts is headed home to host an album release show at the Bijou Theatre.
Roberts is releasing her full-length LP “Can’t Hide Country” on Friday, Sept. 22, but fans can get a sneak peek a day early at the Knoxville show.
“I can’t wait to celebrate the release of ‘Can’t Hide Country’ in my hometown! These people and this place made me who I am, and I just want to make them proud,” said Roberts.
The album is dedicated to Roberts’s crafting of country music just like what she heard growing up in East Tennessee. It features 13 tracks, 12 of which Roberts wrote.
Tickets go on sale Friday, August 11 at 10 a.m.
NWS Confirms Rare EF2 Tornado, First in 70 Years, Touches Down Monday in Knox County
Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A rare EF2 tornado is to blame for severe damage Monday in West Knox County.
The National Weather Service confirming an EF2 tornado did touch down in West Knox County from the Yarnell Road to Lovell Road areas. NWS officials say the tornado is the first of that magnitude to touch down in the month of August since 1950.
The EF2 twister was part of severe storms yesterday that caused extreme damage especially in the Cedar Bluff, Lovell Road, and Karns areas.
Officials said windspeeds reached up to 130 miles per hour. The damage from the storm displaced at least 15 people from an apartment complex in Knoxville.
People are still experiencing power outages as well, with the Knoxville Utilities Board reporting nearly 6,000 customers still without power as of 1:00 Tuesday afternoon.
