Parker McCollum Grows from a Limestone Kid to a Gold Chain Cowboy with His New Album

Parker McCollum Grows from a Limestone Kid to a Gold Chain Cowboy with His New Album

Parker McCollum‘s new album Gold Chain Cowboy is available now!

Parker thinks this new project, Gold Chain Cowboy, is another step in his evolution as an artist.

He reflects on how far he’s come since his first album, “When I wrote Limestone Kid I was really just… I had no idea what I was doing. And to be quite honest, I still think I don’t have any idea what I’m doing. But I feel, which is really the most important thing to me, in regards to that evolution…I just feel like I’ve gotten a little bit better as a songwriter and as an artist, as a whole. And kind of honed in on my craft a little bit more with each album. From that one to this one. You know, I would say, I was 21, 22 years old when I wrote that record. And I just turned 29 a couple weeks ago. And now I’m as dialed in and as focused and as calculated with my craft, as I’ve ever been. And the most confident in it that I’ve ever been.”

When it comes to the title of the album, Parker has had that in mind for a while now, “Sounded really cool, when I first thought of it. And I wanted to write a song, around that idea, and I never really like the direction it was going. So I kind of gave up on it, but the phrase Gold Chain Cowboy, kept finding it’s way back into my mind, over and over again. And I could figure out why I couldn’t get away from it. The more I started thinking about it, as an album title, I was like well it really makes a lot of sense, You know, I definitely like to flex on ’em. A little bit. I like a nice gold watch, or a gold chain. I would love to have a big house on my own ranch back in Texas in a couple years, with maybe a couple whips in the driveway, my big old truck. But you know, all those things are great. And I really do like those things. But I don’t think they mean much if you’re not well mannered and carry yourself the right way and work really hard to earn everyone of them. And uh it’s kind of combing those two styles and I was brought up that way, work very hard, and try and go out and take care of yourself and reward yourself for working hard, but carry yourself the right way. The more I thought about Gold Chain Cowboy, the more it just seemed to fit.”

Gold Chain Cowboy track listing:

  1. “Wait Outside” (Parker McCollum, Jon Randall, Randy Rogers)
  2. “Dallas” (Featuring Danielle Bradbery) (Parker McCollum, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers)
  3. “To Be Loved By You” (Parker McCollum, Rhett Akins)
  4. “Drinkin’” (Parker McCollum, Lee Miller)
  5. “Falling Apart” (Parker McCollum, Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall, Randy Rogers)
  6. “Heart Like Mine” (Parker McCollum, Tony Lane, Ben West)
  7. “Why Indiana” (Parker McCollum, Erik Dylan, Randy Montana)
  8. “Rest Of My Life” (Parker McCollum)
  9. “Pretty Heart” (Parker McCollum, Randy Montana)
  10. “Never Loved You At All” (Parker McCollum, Corey Crowder, Brian Kelley)

Whether it’s his number-one hit “Pretty Heart” or his current single at country radio “To Be Loved By You” – when someone hears this collection of music Parker says “What do I want the listeners to take away from listening to Gold Chain Cowboy? The only thing I can ask is that they believe it. I think my best album is yet to come, and I think this one is really good. I really believe in all the songs and wrote all the songs. As long as the listener will believe every song when they listen to it, that’s about all I can ask for.”

Clay Walker’s New Album – Texas To Tennessee – Is About His Journey

Clay Walker’s New Album – Texas To Tennessee – Is About His Journey

Clay Walker‘s new album Texas To Tennessee is available now!

With a list of hits already on his country music resume, when it came to creating this new project, Clay says “Well, there’s a question that artists have to ask themselves whenever their going in to record music, new music , you know. If it’s new music, how new is it? What’s going to be new about it? And for me I had to ask myself, at this point in my career, what is it that I need to give the fans that I haven’t given them already.”

The new thing Clay gave is fans on Texas To Tennessee was working with a new producer – Michael Knox – of Jason Aldean fame.

Clay says that with all the music he’s created previously, Michael had one simple mission when it came to creating these new tracks – Clay shares “He said ‘Clay if I’m going to make a record, I’d like to make a record about you.’ And I was like whoa, that’s different. He said, ‘I’d like to make every song about you, I want you to write every song.’ And that was a big challenge, so he started lining up some co-writes…and he focused them in on that exact topic, that we want to write songs about Clay’s life. So as we did that, I think it came off brilliantly, and a lot of integrity there, and I always recorded songs that I either loved or, lived. And this was just, a much deeper dive into, that direction, and I felt like we nailed it.”

A lot of the inspiration behind the music of his life right now is Clay’s wife, Jessica, “My wife Jessica, she’s not only the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, she’s the kindest, and most selfless human being I’ve ever been around, and I really adore her, and wish I could be more like her. There’s just not a selfish thing about her, so in this album, there’s a lot of things that point to her.”

The track listing for Texas To Tennessee is

1. “Anything To Do With You” (Clay Walker, Brandon KinneyShane MinorMike Mobley)

2. “Need A Bar Sometimes” (Walker, Jaron BoyerJosh MirendaGeorge Birge)

3. “Catching Up With An Ol’ Memory” (Walker, Boyer, Birge, Lalo Guzman)

4. “Country Side” (Clay Walker, Boyer, Lynn Wilbanks)

5. “Cowboy Loves A Woman” (Walker, Jennifer Hanson, Mark Nesler)

6. “Texas To Tennessee” (Walker, Hanson, Nesler)

7. “I Just Wanna Hold You” (Walker, Boyer, Ben Stennis)

8. “Loving You Then” (Walker, Boyer, Brad Rempel, Stennis)

9. “You Look Good” (Walker, Boyer, Michael Tyler)

10. “One More” (Walker, David Lee MurphyJustin Weaver)

Texas To Tennessee – produced by Michael Knox (Jason Aldean) and Jaron Boyer (Dierks Bentley‘s “Somewhere On A Beach”),

The album’s title was very autobiographical as to what the couple has been through, “Texas to Tennessee is really about our journey, with my career. She has been a part of me for sixteen years. There’s no separation between us we both have the same goal in life, and that is to raise our family, the best we can, and to love each other in front of them, and when were alone. So Texas to Tennessee is the title cut, to the album, and one of the songs on the album, is really about that journey that we both experience together.”

Another track Clay wrote with his wife in mind is “You Look Good” – which he says the song “actually embarrasses her. She’s so modest.”

When it comes to his new project, Clay says “My voice is as traditional as ever, and these sounds that are around it, really make it fit in and blend nicely.”

Dierks Bentley Has Beers With Breland & Hardy

Dierks Bentley Has Beers With Breland & Hardy

Dierks Bentley‘s new song “Beers On Me” features two special guest vocalists – Hardy & Breland

Dierks shares the story behind the song, “I had so much fun writing this song ‘Beers On Me’ with my friends HARDY, Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman and Luke Dick. It took five of us to write this song, and then I got in the studio with HARDY and then Breland came in and wrote a whole nother verse to it. So, there’s actually six guys writing this song, but we had so much fun doing it. One of my favorite songs I’ve written in a long time. I love the idea of just buying everybody a beer. We all have problems that we’re going through, but on a Saturday night or Thursday night or Friday night, whatever night I’m on the road, we’ve got no problems and that’s what this song is all about.”

Ashley McBryde Is a Giver – Not A Getter When It Comes to Gifts

Ashley McBryde Is a Giver – Not A Getter When It Comes to Gifts

Happy belated birthday to Ashley McBryde!

If you missed her birthday yesterday (July 29th) and didn’t get her a gift…don’t worry!

Turns out that when it comes to presents, Ashley’s much more of a giver than a getter, “I prefer giving. I love to see the look one somebody’s face when they know you’ve put a lot of thought into them. Um, getting is a little awkward for me. I know how to say thank you but it’s still like uhhhh. So, giving is awesome and I can even do it by surprise, but I just love it when someone goes, ‘Wow, thank you!’ That’s cool.”

Ashley is taking the weekend off from her This Town Talks tour – hey, who doesn’t like to have their birthday off from work – but she’s back it next week.

If you still want to see Ashley “live” this weekend, you can check out her Never Will: Live From a Distance Show here

Johnny Dailey Debuts New Song – “Driving Things Around”

Johnny Dailey Debuts New Song – “Driving Things Around”

Johnny Dailey‘s new song “Driving Things Around” probably wouldn’t have been possible without driving around in his cousin’s truck.

Johnny shares that it was there, in that truck, that he discovered a love for country music. “I was always drawn to country music because of the story telling.”

It wasn’t long after that discovery that he started to make his own music, “My dad gave me my first guitar when I was 12 years old and I started playing in church and then eventually started writing songs in high school.”

Johnny says, “I’ve always had a desire to tell my story through song and have it connect with people in some way. Songs have always been a source of comfort for me and I’ve always wanted to sing songs that provide that comfort for other people. It’s a good feeling when you know someone else has been in your shoes.”

That thought echoes today in all of his music, especially with his song “Driving Things Around” – “I hope when people listen to my music they can hear a little bit of their story in it too.”

When it comes to his new song, Johnny says “‘Driving Things Around’ is an anthem for the simple life. To me, it perfectly depicts that small town way of living that I grew up in and that I’m always trying to be around as much as I can. Whether it’s loading up the back with wood for a new project, driving through a pasture, or drinking a beer on the tailgate, it’s hard to live my life without a truck around.”

Check out this special early preview of Johnny Dailey’s new song “Driving Things Around” – available everywhere tomorrow July 30th!
