Jon Pardi Covers Metallica’s “Wherever I May Roam” – We’re Not Kidding
Just when you think you heard it all, Jon Pardi brings us the cover song we didn’t know we needed.
Jon along with 52 other artists – including Darius Rucker, Chris Stapleton & Miley Cyrus – contributed to the charity album, The Metallica Blacklist which features each musical act giving their own special twist to the music of Metallica‘s classic Black album.
The Metallica Blacklist, which includes Jon’s version of “Wherever I May Roam” arrives September 10th – and all profits will be split 50/50 between Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and a charity of the artist’s choice…and for Jon it’s The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, which is committed to improving the quality of everyday life for people and families affected by autism along seven key dimensions critical to living each day fully: staying educated, employed, active, social, safe, supported, and informed.

Lauren Alaina is a Golden Girl 4 Times Over
Congrats to Lauren Alaina who was surprised this week with a plaque commemorating four of her songs going Gold.
The presentation – backstage at the Grand Ole Opry – recognized “Getting Good,” “Road Less Traveled,” “Doing Fine,” and “Like My Mother Does” for all achieving the certification of reaching Gold.
Lauren shared “(Tuesday) night at the Grand Ole Opry was CERTIFIABLY GOLD. My team surprised me with FOUR gold records. This achievement as a female in country music is such an honor. Thank you to my fans for listening and buying the music I pour my heart into. These gold records are just as much yours as they are mine.”
Lauren is hoping to add to her metal collection when it comes to her latest track, “Getting Over Him” which features Jon Pardi.

Jabari Small Named To Doak Walker Award Preseason Watch List
DALLAS – Tennessee sophomore running back Jabari Small was named to the 2021 Doak Walker Award preseason watch list, as announced by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum on Wednesday.
The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the nation’s top college running back. Small was one of 13 players from the Southeastern Conference to earn a spot on the preseason watch list.
The Memphis native is expected to have a breakout sophomore season after a strong finish to his freshman campaign in 2020 and an impressive spring.
Small saw action in all 10 games as a reserve last season and came on strong at the end of the year. He totaled 26 carries for 117 yards and had four receptions for 24 yards on the year, logging a season-high 48 rushing yards on six carries (8.0 avg) in the Vols’ late-season victory at Vanderbilt. Small was also named to the 2020 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
Small comes from a family pedigree of SEC players. His father, Eddie, played wide receiver at Ole Miss from 1990-93, while his uncle, Tony Small, was an All-SEC wide receiver for Georgia from 1996-98. His other uncle, O.J. Small, was an All-SEC wide receiver at Florida from 2000-04 before playing in the NFL.
The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will name ten semifinalists in November, and three finalists, as voted on by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, will be announced in November. The committee will cast a second vote in December to determine the recipient. The National Selection Committee consists of past recipients, former NFL All-Pro and college All-America running backs, media members and selected special representatives.
The recipient of the 2020 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards. The award is named for SMU’s three-time All-America running back Doak Walker. It is the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.
