Congrats to Sam Hunt – he’s topping the country music airplay chart this week with “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s.”
Sam says, “That’s a song that kind of speaks to the times a little bit. My favorite line from that song is ‘Modern love leads to modern hearts breaking. I’m just a product of my generation.’ Just a fun, kind of simple reflection on how much more difficult it is to be so connected, the downside of being so connected, nowadays.”
Did you know that the track almost didn’t make it onto his Southside album in the first place, Sam shares “Yeah, that was one that was written in the 9th hour, and turned out pretty cool I thought, so we included it on the record.”
Here’s the number-1 song this week in country music – Sam Hunt’s “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s”
On Friday, May 21st, he’s releasing his new EP, Buy Dirt…
and now he’s also announced that he and his wife, Kristen, will be having their own special project released later this year.
Jordan shared “Add a few limbs to the family tree…add me to the list of artists putting out new music and having kids during quarantine.”
Jordan broke the news that not only is he and Kristen are having a second child, but they are going to make their daughter Eloise a big sister to a little brother.
While Jordan and Kristen are very excited to become parents again, he does admit that getting the news was a little anti-climatic compared to the first time they found out they were pregnant, “I was going for a song writing thing, and before I left the house, Kristen was like ‘Hey, is this a good time to tell you that we’re going to have another kid?’ Then I was just like ‘What?’ Cause the first one she…I was in New York and she flew up, and then I walked into the hotel room the pregnancy test was on the desk, and I was like ‘No way! Awesome!’ like, this really cool moment…and this one it just kind of felt…she’s like ‘Oh, hey, we’re having a kid.’ (laugh) I was like ‘Alright.’ I mean we obviously want a lot of kiddos but it’s just crazy how with the second one you’re just like ‘Yeah, this is going to happen too’.”
Jordan’s EP, Buy Dirt – which arrives Friday, features 8 tracks – 7 of which he co-wrote.
That 8th track he didn’t write is actually a song co-written by John Prine for John’s debut album, but it was another John…John Denver who made the song popular in the early 1970s, “Blow Up Your TV.”
This is one of the other songs on Buy Dirt, this is the music video for Jordan Davis’ “Almost Maybe.”
Blake Shelton, John Legend and Nick Jonas visit fellow The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson on her own The Kelly Clarkson Show.
As Kelly commemorates John’s 4th appearance on her show with a special jacket, she also catches Blake in a bit of fib about where his jacket that Kelly presented to him was. The foursome also traded stories and memories about their time as coaches on The Voice…

The coaches also played the lyric game Throw Me A Line…
The idea for Dan + Shay’s “Glad You Exist” started in Dan Smyers‘ phone as something he says to his wife…and this was before the events that surrounded 2020.
Shay Mooney says “After that song kind of came together…I feel like, you know, when we finally got to record it – it was during quarantine – and I feel like the entire timing of how the song came together was not only good for our fans, and the message was good for our fans, but also for us!”
Shay adds, “You know it’s important to remember that we need to tell the people that we love that we love them and we’re glad they’re around. I think being away from your family and not getting to see the ones that you love was…we were reminded of that even more. So, this song has taken on a new meaning.”
Dan + Shay also shared a video of them singing a special version of the song.
They posted it with the caption “this video was taken right after we finished writing glad you exist with our friends Tayla, Jordan, and Ryan. our inspo was the thought of being in an arena full of people we love, turning the house lights on, putting an arm around one another, and singing all together as one, just being grateful that we are all on the planet at the same time. we’re counting down the days until this can happen again (SEPTEMBER 😍), and when it does, emotions will be at a maximum. thank y’all for the love on this song, it truly means the world. comment and let us know which show we’ll see you at on the (arena) tour this fall!”

Regular-Season Home Finale
Tuesday will be the final regular-season home game for the Vols this season. Tennessee is 25-9 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this season, including a 16-3 record against non-conference foes.
Walk-Off Wins
Tennessee has had a flair for the dramatic this season with sixth walk-off wins, including three walk-off home runs after last Saturday’s 8-7 win over No. 1 Arkansas. Max Ferguson hit a three-run homer with UT trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Vols their third victory over a top-ranked opponent under Vitello.
52 and Counting…
Senior shortstop Liam Spence has been one of the toughest outs in all of college baseball this season. His 52 games streak is the second longest active streak in college baseball behind East Carolina’s Connor Norby (54 games). His 49-game on-base streak for just this season is the longest in the nation.
Non-Conference Dominance
The Vols enter Tuesday’s game with a 21-4 record in non-conference play this season with a 10-2 mark in midweek games. Since the start of the 2019 season, UT is 62-11 against non-conference opposition. They are also an impressive 38-7 in midweek games since Vitello took over as head coach in 2018.

Alan Jackson‘s new album, Where Have you Gone – his first in 6 years – is available now!
The new project from Alan features 21 songs — 15 of them written by Alan himself, who says “Some of the greatest tracks I feel like we’ve made.”
Talking about Where Have You Gone Alan shares, “This album is about life and love and heartache and drinking and dancing and crying and dying and Mama, and all that great stuff that’s always been a part of great country music and it continues with this album, just more of the same.”
It’s been a while since he’s released a new album, but Alan says that wasn’t his plan, life just had a way of planning out the timing for him, he says “It wasn’t intentional. I think we were pretty much on track to do an album like we typically have every couple of years or two or three years and just had some little rough spots in my life and personal things that slowed us down and set me back that we had to get through, my family and myself. And for several years there, I really didn’t feel like writing at all and recording, and it took a while to get back in gear.”
When Alan was ready, it turns out the world had different plans, “Last spring, I think it was, I was ready, and we booked studio time and got ready to go in and I started thinking about writing songs again. And then the virus thing hit and everything kind of came to a halt and we dealt with that all last year.”
But when Alan is ready to record, Alan is ready record, he adds “Later in the summer, I called Keith Stegall, my producer, and said ‘hey man, I’m tired of waiting on this thing. Let’s just do it.’ So, we just decided to go ahead and get everybody in the studio whether they had to wear a mask or a helmet or whatever they had to wear and get in there and cut this thing. (laughs)”
When it comes to the album’s title, Alan thought there might be another track on the project that would have made the cut, “I thought it would be ‘Wishful Drinking’ or something.”
But once everyone heard “Where Have You Gone” they knew that was the one to share the album’s title, “Once we recorded and all the people around me and everybody had their hearsay about it most people wanted that to be the album title and the first track and I loved it. I mean I loved it but I didn’t think anybody else would. But I’m proud that it’s the title.”
Of course, Alan jokes there was one thing that concerned him about the album’s title, “I was little worried that people thought the title meant I hadn’t had an album out in six years, where have you gone? (laughs)”
