Dolly Parton Says A Statue Of Her Would Not Be Appropriate Right Now

Dolly Parton Says A Statue Of Her Would Not Be Appropriate Right Now

The Tennessee legislature floated a bill that would have allowed a statue of Dolly Parton to be created and placed on the state Capitol grounds in Nashville.

While she was very flattered by the gesture, Dolly has said no thanks…for now.

Dolly says, “I want to thank the Tennessee legislature for their consideration of a bill to erect a statue of me on the Capitol grounds. I am honored and humbled by their intention but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration.”

She added, “Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time. I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now or perhaps after I’m gone if you still feel I deserve it, then I’m certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean.”
Dolly also shared, “In the meantime, I’ll continue to try to do good work to make this great state proud.”
She really is a national treasure.

Bailey’s Hot Shooting Night Leads Vols Past South Carolina, 93-73

Bailey’s Hot Shooting Night Leads Vols Past South Carolina, 93-73

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – An electrifying, 29-point performance from junior guard Victor Bailey Jr. and three other double-figure outputs pushed the 19th-ranked Tennessee basketball team past South Carolina, 93-73, on Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Bailey finished the night 9-of-16 from the field and 7-of-10 from 3-point range. His seven treys tied for the most by a Volunteer during the Rick Barnes era. Lamonte Turner (2016-20) also drained seven from long range against Presbyterian on Dec. 16, 2016.

Bailey also tallied a career-high-tying four assists with no turnovers, one block and a steal as the Vols improved to 15-5, 8-5 SEC.

South Carolina (5-10, 3-8 SEC) was led in scoring by AJ Lawson, who finished the night with 20 points.

Tennessee forward John Fulkerson was all over the stat sheet Wednesday, totaling a season-high 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Freshman Jaden Springer put together another consistent performance, scoring 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Springer also logged five assists and three rebounds.

Senior Yves Pons was the fourth Vol to score in double-figures, totaling 10 points, a game-high nine rebounds, a pair of steals and a block.

Coming off the bench for the first time in his career, sophomore guard Santiago Vescovi scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists in 29 minutes of action.

The first half was defined by efficient shooting from both teams, as the combined field-goal percentage at the half was 49 percent (31-63). The teams also combined to shoot was 54 percent (13-24) from 3-point range over the first 20 minutes.

Despite the even shooting numbers, Tennessee used its ability to get to the line on a regular basis to take a 50-39 lead into the halftime break.

Out of the locker room, the Vols maintained their 11-point advantage for a majority of the opening 10 minutes of the second half while continuing to convert from the field at an efficient clip of 54 percent.

In the latter portions of the night, the Vols led by double digits and used a 12-0 run to extend their advantage to as many as 22 points.

Up Next: Tennessee returns to action for a Saturday afternoon home matchup with Kentucky. Tipoff from Thompson-Boling Arena is set for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.

Brad Paisley Wants You To Know He’s A Country Singer…Not A Cat

You’ve seen the lawyer cat zoom call already, right?

Hasn’t every one?

Turns out that Brad Paisley has the same problem when he was letting his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley know that his new song “Off Road” is out…

The new song is great — but our favorite part about that video was how amused Kim was…

There’s no cats — but you can listen to the new song by Brad Paisley right here…this is “Off Road”

Chris Young Is Having the Best Week Ever With All the Nashville Snow

Chris Young Is Having the Best Week Ever With All the Nashville Snow

All this week while his fellow country artists like Luke Combs and Chase Rice have been thwarted from returning to Nashville because of the weather, Chris Young has been loving it.

He unapologetically proclaims “Yeah, I love snow!”

Nashville is not normally known as a “snow town” but when the conditions are right, Chris says bring it on, “When it’s cold enough and it snows…it’s fantastic! And I do get excited.”

Earlier this week he announced it was a snow day…

But now that has turned into a snow week, and here he is doing snow angels…

Unfortunately for Chris, it looks like all the snow will be gone by Monday – but we’re glad he had fun while it was around.

Wonder if he had snowball fight with any of his “Famous Friends”
