Reba McEntire is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her 1990 album, Rumor Has It, by re-releasing the project on Sept. 11. Reba’s iconic album featured four Top 10 hits, including “You Lie,” “Rumor Has It,” “Fancy” and “Fallin’ Out of Love.”
The vinyl version of the re-released album will feature a bonus track: an acoustic version of “Fancy” that was recorded live at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The digital and CD versions of the re-released album will featured the aforementioned acoustic version of “Fancy,” as well as a new dance remix of “Fancy.”
“I never imagined I’d get the chance to put out an album for a second time,” says Reba. “It’s just so much fun to look back and remember where we were and what we were doing when they were originally released. This album, in particular, is very special to me because it was the first time I got to record with [producer] Tony Brown and he was the reason I finally got to record ‘Fancy.’ Now here we are 30 years later and I never end a show without singing that song.”
Blake Shelton’s new single, “Happy Anywhere,” featuring Gwen Stefani, debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Penned by Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne and Matt Jenkins, “Happy Anywhere” also skyrocketed to No. 1 on the iTunes all-genre chart after its release on July 24.
Like his most recent multi-week No. 1 single, “Nobody But You,” which topped the charts in April/May 2020, “Happy Anywhere” features vocals from girlfriend Gwen Stefani.
Directed by Todd Stefani, the feel-good video for the new tune includes footage of Blake and Gwen spending quality time in their homes in Oklahoma and California.
“As I’ve said, ‘Happy Anywhere’ feels like the perfect song for right now,” Blake says. “I’m proud to see that fans feel the same way about it that Gwen and I do. Thanks everyone for listening to the song, watching the video and coming to the drive-in. Most importantly, thanks for letting me do what I love the most—sing country music.”
Blake headlined a one-night-only concert event, which was filmed exclusively for drive-in theaters across North America, on July 25.
Randy Travis will release a new single, “Fool’s Love Affair,” on July 29, which also marks the 35th anniversary of the release of his debut single, “On the Other Hand.”
Randy recorded the song, which was penned by Charlie Monk, Milton Brown and Keith Stegall, in the early 1980s. Monk, who signed Randy to a publishing deal in the early 1980s, found the demo when cleaning his office in 2019.
Randy suffered a stroke in July 2013, which significantly affected his ability to talk and sing.
“My songs were the stories of my life and I learned from those who listened, they were theirs too—my fans inspired me and continue to do so,” said Randy in his 2019 book, Forever and Ever, Amen: A Memoir of Music, Faith and Braving the Storms of Life.
Over the course of his career, Randy has recorded 18 No. 1 hits and sold more than 25 million albums. He suffered a near-fatal stroke in 2013, but with the help of wife Mary and physical therapy, he has made improvements in his speaking, mobility and singing.
He was elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016. Randy celebrated his 61st birthday in May.
Garth Brooks will hold a press conference in Nashville on July 29 at 10 a.m. CT. The event can be viewed live on Garth’s Facebook page.
The last press conference of this nature was in 2018 when Garth and former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz announced Garth’s stadium concert at Notre Dame.
“This Wednesday, 10 a.m. Central—that’s Nashville time—we’re gonna bring you into a press conference,” said Garth during his Studio G series on Facebook on July 27. “If you’ve ever seen one of these…probably the last big one you saw of ours was probably Lou Holtz announcing the Stadium Tour at Notre Dame. But this one’s going to be a lot more…what do you call it…a lot more intimate. And dealing with something not as ‘commercial’ as that, but something a little more along the personal lines meets career lines.”
“We’re so excited about our brand-new single,” says Dan. “We wrote part of this song in Los Angeles during Grammy week, but finished it at my house, on my piano, kind of by accident. Shay had come over to record vocals on another song that we had written. We took a break, went downstairs, started singing this song, and realized this song needs a big ending. So we really went for it. Shay delivered one of my favorite vocal performances of all time. We’re so proud that this is our new single.”
The new tune will be the duo’s first single since “10,000 Hours,” which featured Justin Bieber, was released in October 2019. “10,000 Hours” topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart in January 2020.
Miranda Lambert’s “Bluebird” is No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week.
Miranda’s last solo No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart was “Over You” in May 2012. Jason Aldean’s “Drowns the Whiskey,” which featured Miranda, hit the top of the chart in August 2018.
Penned by Miranda, Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby, “Bluebird” is featured on Miranda’s seventh studio album, Wildcard.

Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer of The Chicks are back with a bang.
The trio’s first new album in 14 years, Gaslighter, which dropped on July 17, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart this week. The new 12-song offering moved 84,233 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.
The album also debuted at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Top Albums chart, moving 71,467 units from pure album sales, according to Nielsen Music.
The trio’s eighth studio album was originally slated to be released on May 1, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chicks most recent album, 2006’s Taking the Long Way, earned the trio three Grammy Awards.
The trio had a hand in writing 10 songs on the new 12-song offering (Natalie has an additional co-write on “Julianna Calm Down”). Much of the new album’s subject matter centers around Natalie’s divorce from actor Adrian Pasdar, which was finalized this year after a lengthy legal battle.
More than 20 cross-genre artists and musicians have come together to record a new song, “Quarantine,” that benefits the MusiCare COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Dubbing themselves The Quarantine All-Stars, the award-winning ensemble includes Brad Paisley, Steve Wariner, Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones), Jonathan Cain (Journey), Sony Emory (Earth, Wind & Fire), Dan Falcone (Lady Gaga), Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), Katlin Owen (Jon Pardi), Kevin Arrowsmith (Luke Bryan) and more.
Written and produced by Scotty Wilbanks, the one-of-a-kind collaboration was recorded remotely as the artists performed in their homes or personal studios.
Proceeds and donations on behalf of “Quarantine” benefit the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, which was created by The Recording Academy to help people in the music industry affected by the coronavirus disease outbreak and subsequent cancellation of music events.

Brad Paisley released an acoustic version of his upbeat single, “No I in Beer.”
Penned by Brad and Kelley Lovelass, “No I in Beer” is Brad’s first official single since his 2019 release, “My Miracle,” which peaked at No. 42. Currently, “No I in Beer” is No. 23 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart after 14 weeks.
“So I wrote this song two years ago with my best buddy Kelley Loveless, and it’s crazy as I look around at life right now how everybody is just doing what they can to get through this,” says Brad. “And this song, which wasn’t written for this pandemic, but it takes on new meaning for me when I hear it now, I just feel like, you know what, life sorta sucks right now in some ways and we gotta do what we can to get through this. And if we’ve ever felt unified as Americans as citizens of the world, it’s in the fact that nobody loves what we’re going through but everybody’s willing to do what we have to do and one of those things is let’s be a team—let’s be a drinking team and that’s what we are right now.”

Here’s an update on transactions in the NFL involving University of Tennessee players in moves announced by the National Football League.
Below is the full list of players currently on NFL expanded rosters. This year’s roster max needs to get down to 80 players by Aug. 16 from the normal 90.

It’s been a brutal week for VFL tight ends as UT’s NFL total plummeted from 5 to 2. The list that Warrior is on is not necessarily for testing positive for COVID-19 but could also be for coming in close contact with someone who was. There were 6 on the NFL’s initial Reserve/COVID-19 list including Nigel Warrior. We hope he’s ok. It certainly seems like a setback towards trying to make the Ravens as a rookie. Also, Darrell Taylor lost two VFL teammates on the Seahawks in McKenzie and Wood-Anderson. He’s now the lone UT player in Seattle.
