Jake Owen released a new video for his current single, “Made for You.”

In addition to starring Jake, his girlfriend and two daughters, the new clip features fan-submitted videos, including one from professional golfer Jordan Spieth.

Penned by Benjy Davis, Joey Hyde and Neil Medley, “Made for You” is featured on Jake’s 2019 album, Greetings . . . From Jake, which has already spawned two No. 1 singles, “Homemade” and “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” as well as Top 10 hit, “Down to the Honkytonk.”

The soulful new ballad finds Jake crooning the chorus: “Like a ship without a sea / Or a song without a melody / I don’t know where I’d be or what I’d do / ’Cause I was made for you.”

Cam Announces Sophomore Album, “The Otherside,” & Releases New Single, “Classic” [Listen]

Cam Announces Sophomore Album, “The Otherside,” & Releases New Single, “Classic” [Listen]

Cam announced she will release her sophomore album, The Otherside, on Oct. 30. The new project follows her 2015 major-label debut album, Untamed.

Coinciding with the album announcement, Cam released a new single, “Classic.” Penned by Cam and Jack Antonoff, the nostalgic tune is about a special relationship that outlasts the trends. “Classic” ships to country radio on Aug. 10.

“Jack and I caught something in the air that day and ran with it,” Cam says. “The track is so much fun. Jangling guitars, claps, it feels like when a group of familiar people get back together over the holidays, clanking around after dinner with too much wine, and amidst the chatter and laughter and closeness they are really telling each other, deep down, just how much they love each other.”

Earlier this year, Cam released two new songs, “Till There’s Nothing Left” and “Redwood Tree.”

The Chicks Return After 14 Years With New Album, “Gaslighter” [Watch New Video, “Sleep at Night”]

Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer of The Chicks are back with their first new album in 14 years, Gaslighter, which dropped on July 17.

The trio’s eighth studio album was originally slated to be released on May 1, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chicks most recent album, 2006’s Taking the Long Way, earned the trio three Grammy Awards.

The trio had a hand in writing 10 songs on the new 12-song offering (Natalie has an additional co-write on “Julianna Calm Down”). Much of the new album’s subject matter centers around Natalie’s divorce from actor Adrian Pasdar, which was finalized this year after a lengthy legal battle.

The Chicks released a stylized new video for “Sleep at Night,” a tune they co-penned with Teddy Geiger and Justin Tranter. The song features Natalie singing: My husband’s girlfriend’s husband just called me up / How messed up is that / It’s so insane that I have to laugh / But then I think about our two boys trying to become men / There’s nothing funny about that.”

Redshirt senior defensive lineman Emmit Gooden has been dismissed from the University of Tennessee football team by head coach Jeremy Pruitt.

According to numerous media reports, Gooden was arrested on Thursday on felony assault charges.

Gooden (6’3, 290) missed the 2019 season due to injury. He played 12 games with 1 start in 2018 recording 33 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

The Brownsville, Texas native and JUCO transfer from Independence CC was expected to be a strong candidate to start for the Vols in 2020, if he returned to 2018 form after injury. Gooden was a 4-star prospect when signed in Jeremy Pruitt’s initial recruiting class in 2018.

The University of Tennessee has already removed Gooden from the team roster on their website.

Tennessee still has quality depth on the defensive line with 14 scholarship players. That does not include the 3-4 hybrid outside linebackers/pass rushers. 6 of those DLs have starting experience. There are 2 true freshmen in the DL group that remains.

Vols starting TE Austin Pope out after back surgery

Tennessee Volunteers redshirt senior starting tight end Austin Pope tweeted Thursday that he had to have back surgery to repair a herniated disc and he is home recovering. This is his second back surgery. The Knoxville native and CAK product, Pope, explains below.

Pope (6’4, 235) did not offer a recovery timeline or range of time, but it’s hard to image much, if any contribution from Pope this football season. There could be an option of applying for a sixth year of eligibility for medical hardship. Teammate Brandon Kennedy, starting center, is slated to play this season after receiving that extra year season from the NCAA. So, there could still be hope that Pope’s career at UT is not over.

Pope played in all 13 games in 2019, starting 11 of those contests. He recorded four catches fir 21 yards. He’s played in 33 career games with 14 starts. Pope is a fantastic run blocker that does many things not seen on stat sheets.

Without Pope, at the moment, UT has zero career starts at the position among the 5 remaining scholarship tight ends…Princeton Fant, Jordan Allen, Jacob Warren, Sean Brown and Jackson Lowe.

As Brent Hubbs from Volquest pointed out on SportsTalk Thursday, you wonder if the Vols will look to the transfer market for a tight end. Also, OC Jim Chaney will be tasked to be creative with scheme and personnel to make-up for the run-blocking lost without #81 on the field.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – In an effort to ensure the safety of the athletes, coaches, staff members and fans, Triple Crown Sports has announced it will move the 2020 Cancun Challenge to Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

While the Lady Vols’ 2020-21 schedule hasn’t been released, Kellie Harper‘s squad is among the teams slated to participate in the tournament.

EFSC sits in the heart of Florida’s Space Coast. Located just south of Cape Canaveral, Melbourne is moments away from the Kennedy Space Center and the city’s cultural hub, providing the perfect backdrop for the 2020 edition of the popular Thanksgiving week event.

Games will be played at the Titan Field House, which is home to Eastern Florida’s men’s and women’s basketball programs. The arena seats approximately 1,500 fans, maintaining the classic intimate setting of the Cancun Challenge.

Final details involving hotels, fan packages, tournament field and schedules will be released at a later date.  Fans are asked to refrain from booking lodging until team hotel and other amenities are announced.

Thomas Rhett Looks Back at His 2015 No. 1 Single, “Crash & Burn”

Thomas Rhett Looks Back at His 2015 No. 1 Single, “Crash & Burn”

Thomas Rhett’s 2013 debut album, It Goes Like This, spawned three consecutive No. 1 singles: “It Goes Like This,” “Get Me Some of That” and “Make Me Wanna.”

When TR was planning his 2015 sophomore album, Tangled Up, he knew he needed a lead single that wouldn’t crash and burn. Ironically enough, Thomas Rhett chose to lead off his upcoming album with a single titled “Crash and Burn,” which was penned by Chris Stapleton and Jesse Frasure.

When it was released in April 2015, the R&B-infused break-up song burned a path up the charts, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart by September to become TR’s fourth No. 1.

As TR recently told Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown, “Crash and Burn” is a song that’s still very “close” to him.

“Any [demo] that I get pitched with Chris Stapleton’s voice, I’m more than likely gonna put it on hold in the first place, and then go cry myself to sleep ’cause I can’t sing like [him],” says Thomas Rhett. “And then I’m gonna wake up and figure out how I’m gonna make it my own. From the first time I heard ‘Crash,’ I just knew that I loved the melody and I loved Chris singing it—I didn’t even know what the song was about. Then, when I found out it was a song about heartbreak—it’s like the happiest break-up song that I’ve ever heard—I knew that I had to have it, and everybody at the label loved it. So the next task was, ‘How are we gonna go cut this and, you know, remotely compared to how Stapleton did it?’ So, we cut it, and, obviously, I had to drop it a few keys, but it turned out great, man. Now when I sing it, I feel like I was a co-writer on the song—that’s how close it is to me.”

Thomas Rhett scored his 15th No. 1 single in May 2020 with “Beer Can’t Fix,” which featured Jon Pardi.
