Trisha Yearwood Teams With Lauren Alaina for New Version of “Getting Good” [Listen]

Two of country music’s most dynamic voices—Trisha Yearwood and Lauren Alaina—have joined forces for a new rendition of “Getting Good.”

Penned by Emily Weisband and produced by David Garcia, “Getting Good” was initially released as a single by Lauren in October 2019. Currently, the tune is No. 42 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Trisha and Lauren’s new version of “Getting Good” was released on June 26, after the two connected on a recent episode of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.

“I’m so thankful that I get to share such an important message with one of the most important and impactful voices in my life,” says Lauren. “Trisha is a beautiful person inside and out. I’m honored she said yes to this song and to me. I’m learning to grow right where I’m planted, and I’m realizing, life’s already good.”

“Our voices just kind of effortlessly blended together,” says Trisha. “Sometimes I’m doing a lower harmony. Sometimes I pop up and do a higher harmony. And even listening back for me, there were a couple of moments where I was like, ‘I can’t remember which one I did.’ Like, ‘Is that me, or is that her?’ And that’s just a cool thing when that happens, because that means that your voices are really buzzing and blending together so well.”

Cole Swindell Shows Off Playful Personality in New Video for “Single Saturday Night” [Watch]

Cole Swindell is keeping his creative juices flowing during the ongoing pandemic by filming a new video for “Single Saturday Night.” The new clip, which was directed by Michael Monaco and Eder Acevedo, shows off Cole’s playful personality as he poses in front of a green screen for a series of dreamy adventures.

“I have loved this song since the first listen and wanted to create a video that was just as special!” says Cole. “We had to get really creative shooting because we were still in quarantine, and it ended being one of the most fun videos I’ve ever done. Because of having that extra time I was able to be really involved in the creative and editing process and this video is a snapshot of my quarantine of trying to tune out all of the bad news and dreaming of being back out on the road at live shows with my band and fans.”

Penned by Ashley Gorley, Michael Hardy and Mark Holman, “Single Saturday Night” follows the release of Cole’s No. 1 single, “Love You Too Late,” which topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart in October 2019.

Cole has rescheduled the remaining dates of his Down To Earth Tour, which is slated to kick back off on Oct. 1 in Macon, Ga.

Bonnaroo Festival Rescheduled for June 2021 After 2020 Cancellation

Bonnaroo Festival Rescheduled for June 2021 After 2020 Cancellation

There will be no Bonnaroo in 2020.

In March, the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, which was slated to take place June 11–14, was rescheduled for Sept. 24–27 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On June 24, Bonnaroo announced that it cancelled the 2020 festival via a statement on its website: “Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will not take place this September 24-27, 2020 as originally rescheduled. Our annual time together on the Farm is nothing short of magical, but out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all Bonnaroovians, artists, staff, partners and our community, this is a necessary reality. More information on lineup, camping and accommodations will be available at a later date.”

The original artist lineup for 2020, which boasted more than 100 acts, featured a handful of country-centric performers, including Jason Isbell, Morgan Wallen, Mandolin Orange, Orville Peck, Yola and more.

The 2021 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival will take place June 17–20 at Great Stage Park, the 700-acre farm and event space located just 60 miles south of Nashville in Manchester, Tenn.

The Dixie Chicks Change Name to “The Chicks”

The Dixie Chicks Change Name to “The Chicks”

According to their new website and social media handles, The Dixie Chicks—Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer—have rebranded as “The Chicks.” As of press time, the Chicks have not made a public announcement.

The trio’s name change comes after weeks of social unrest that has put a spotlight on systematic racism and discrimination.

“Dixie” is a reference to the Southern United States, notably the Confederate States during the Civil War. The name came from the title of a song composed in 1859 by Daniel Decatur Emmett, which was a popular marching song of the Confederate Army.

Earlier this month, Lady Antebellum changed its name to Lady A to recognize “those suffering from spoken and unspoken injustices.”

The Chicks will release their upcoming eighth studio album, Gaslighter, on July 17. The Chicks dropped a new song, “March March” on June 25, which you can listen to below.

Trey Smith Named to Sporting News Preseason All-America First Team

Trey Smith Named to Sporting News Preseason All-America First Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee senior offensive lineman Trey Smith was named to the Sporting News’ 2020 Preseason All-America first team, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

Smith is coming off a dominant junior campaign in which he helped lead the Vols to six consecutive victories to end the season, including a thrilling comeback win over Indiana in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. He was one of eight SEC players named to the first team, the most of any conference.

The Jackson, Tennessee, native received All-SEC first-team accolades from the league’s coaches and media after starting 12 games in 2019. Making his season even more impressive was the fact that Smith was limited to no contact in practices throughout the season after battling back from blood clots in his lungs that forced him to miss the final five games of his sophomore season.

Smith’s incredible return to football as well as his impactful work off the field and in the community earned him the inaugural Fritz Pollard Trophy and the 2019 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award. During the offseason, Smith elected to forgo the NFL Draft and return to school for his senior year.

With Thursday’s announcement, Smith added to an already growing list of preseason All-America honors for the 2020 season that includes honors from the Walter Camp Foundation as well as Athlon and Street & Smith magazines.

Also earning recognition from the Sporting News was junior offensive lineman Cade Mays, who was a second-team selection. Mays transferred to UT from Georgia in the offseason after playing a key part on the Bulldogs’ offensive line the past two years, playing in 25 games while making 18 starts.

Mays was a FWAA Freshman All-American and SEC All-Freshman team selection in 2018. The junior showed his versatility last season, starting at least one game at every position along the offensive line except for center, while helping lead the Bulldogs to a Sugar Bowl victory over Baylor.

Smith and Mays will be part of Tennessee’s talented offensive line that has been rated among the best in the nation by SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic.

Lindsay Ell to Release New Concept Album, “Heart Theory,” on Aug. 14

Lindsay Ell announced she will release a new concept album, heart theory, on Aug. 14.

The new album, which was produced by Dann Huff, is described in the press release as “an incredibly personal concept album comprised of 12 tracks that journey through each stage of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, testing and acceptance.”

Lindsay co-penned 11 tracks on the new project with a host of top songwriters, including Brandy Clark, Laura Veltz, Jessie Jo Dillon, Nicole Gaylon and more. The album’s lead single, “wAnt me back,” was penned by Lindsay, Kane Brown, Matt McGinn and Lindsay Rimes.

The track titles have been stylize in lowercase with sporadic capital letters to reflect the spelling of the name of the album, while the album’s title has also been stylized in lowercase.

“If theory is the science of music, heart theory is the science of a heart,” says Lindsay. “I hope this roadmap can be a comfort if you need it, reassurance when you need to remember to believe in yourself or maybe just a glimpse into a memory that’s made you who you are.”

The upcoming album follows the release of Lindsay’s major-label debut album, The Project, in 2017. In 2018, Lindsay released The Continuum Project, a track-by-track cover of John Mayer’s Continuum.

Spending Time With Baby Girl Has Been Jordan Davis’ Silver Lining During Quarantine

Spending Time With Baby Girl Has Been Jordan Davis’ Silver Lining During Quarantine

Like the rest of the music-making world, Jordan Davis was forced to cancel his spring and summer gigs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But there’s been a silver lining for the Louisiana native, who has scored three consecutive No. 1 singles with “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot” (April 2020), “Take It From Me” (March 2019) and “Singles You Up” (April 2018).

Jordan and wife Kristen welcomed their first child—a baby girl named Eloise Larkin—in November 2019. As Jordan told Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown, being able to spend time with his eight-month-old has been “really special.”

“You know, for me, I was there for her first solid foods a couple of weeks ago,” says Jordan. “I looked at my calendar when she was mashing up avocados and throwing food all over the kitchen, and I was like, ‘Man, I would’ve been somewhere in Arizona, playing a show.’ You know, the silver lining is getting to catch those moments, and, you know, reading her stories before she goes to bed is a lot fun. Just being home has been really special—they’re just growing so much during this period.”

All three aforementioned No. 1 singles are from Jordan’s 2018 debut album, Home State. In May, Jordan released a six-song, self-titled EP, featuring new single, “Almost Maybes,” which you can hear below.
