Dolly Parton Lauds Nashville’s Resilience in New Promo Video [Watch]

In a new video shared on Tim McGraw’s YouTube account, Dolly Parton offers a message of hope for the resilient city of Nashville.

The new video features clips of Music City, while Dolly’s voice-over references the Nashville flood of 2010 and the tornadoes that swept across Middle Tennessee in 2020, as well as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“No matter what calamity may come, we always turn our struggles into stories—our stories into songs, ones that people sing all over the world,” says Dolly, in part. “Let’s add a chorus a million strong, a chorus that believe in one simple thing: each other.”

Tim’s 2016 No. 1 hit, “Humble and Kind,” is also featured in the new promo.

“The live music scene is quiet for now,” said Tim via Twitter. “But we’ll be back on stage soon. How could we not?! We’ve got a chorus a million strong, believing in one simple thing: each other. #StayHumbleAndKind #NashvilleStrong @visitmusiccity @dollyparton”

Scotty McCreery Reflects on Home State Honor: “It’s One of My Prouder Moments”

Scotty McCreery Reflects on Home State Honor: “It’s One of My Prouder Moments”

Garner, N.C., native Scotty McCreery has a special affinity for his home state.

To this day, the American Idol winner—who has scored three No. 1 albums and two No. 1 singles—cites an honor from his home state as one of his “prouder moments.”

In March 2017, Scotty was honored with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award by former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory. The award, which is the highest award for state service granted by the governor, recognizes individuals who have shown extraordinary service to the state. Past recipients include Charlie Daniels, Michael Jordan, Richard Petty, Earl Scruggs, Colin Powell, Kenny Rogers, Oprah Winfrey, Tammy Wynette, Gerald Ford, Randy Travis, Billy Graham and more.

As Scotty recently told Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown, the award was “one of my prouder moments ’cause I love my home state of Carolina.”

“I haven’t been asked about this really, so I appreciate you asking,” said Scotty, after Kix broached the subject. “It’s a really big honor for North Carolinians. It’s like the highest civilian honor you can get. It’s pretty cool. I mean, I’ve always tried to go back home and be a part of the community, and Governor McCrory gave me the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, and that was a goal of mine. I didn’t know that it would come so soon. That was a massive honor. I’ve got it in my apartment actually here in Nashville. I should bring it to North Carolina and put it up in the house, but it’s one of my prouder moments ’cause I love my home state of Carolina—it’s a big honor.”

Scotty’s single, “In Between,” is currently No. 8 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Jimmy Hyams and Vince Ferrara talked with University of Tennessee director of athletics Phillip Fulmer Wednesday afternoon on SportsTalk.

Fulmer discussed fans in Neyland Stadium this fall, how much money the UT Athletics Department pays annually to the university, what football means to schools around the country, some “what if” questions about ticketing, fans and this season’s football schedule, Jeremy Pruitt’s success and development as a coach and much more.

Here’s what Phillip Fulmer said about fans in Neyland Stadium this season:

“We’re planning on absolutely having it full.”

Here’s what the UT AD said when Vince asked him if Tennessee planned to beef-up UT’s future football non-conference schedules like many others in the SEC have:

“It was interesting. When I came into the conference as an AD I said, ‘Gosh, why don’t we all play two Power 5 teams, out of conference Power 5 teams?’ And then, after being an athletic director for a couple of years, certainly the appeal of the dollars and the crowd and those kinds of things. We’ve just been fighting like heck to get ourselves back in the mix for the conference. I think those things (more and tougher non-conference games) will come in time. I kind of see better now. Let’s pay attention to the ones we got and let’s go win those. Then we’ll worry about the others later.”

Jimmy then asked Fulmer if it’s difficult to schedule Power 5 teams:

“It is a little bit. It’s an interesting dynamic.”

Brett Young Celebrates Family Life in New Video for “Lady” [Watch]

Brett Young Celebrates Family Life in New Video for “Lady” [Watch]

Family man Brett Young released a new video for his current single, “Lady,” which features the California native enjoying life at home with his wife, Taylor, and young daughter, Presley. Seth Kupersmith directed the new clip using a single camera and drone.

Brett co-penned the new tune with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite shortly before the birth of his daughter in October 2019.

“‘Lady’ is easily one of the most special songs I’ve ever written,” says Brett. “I always knew I would want to write songs for my children, but didn’t realize the inspiration would come so quickly before my daughter was even born. It’s a message to Presley about her mom and it became a pretty obvious choice for my first single in a new chapter of music. It’s so meaningful to Taylor and I, and I hope it resonates in a similar way for anyone who listens.”

The new song features Brett crooning the sweet chorus: “I hope you look just like your mama / And love her like I do / You’ll see close to perfect patience / If you watch her every move / You can always run to daddy / You’ll always be my baby / But look at her, baby girl / And you’ll learn how to be a lady.”

“Lady” follows the release of Brett’s six No. 1 singles: “Mercy,” “Sleep Without You,” “In Case You Didn’t Know,” “Like I Loved You,” “Here Tonight” and” Catch.” The new tune will likely serve as the lead single to Brett’s upcoming third album.

Grand Jury Indicts Man Accused of Killing Tucker Beathard’s Brother

Grand Jury Indicts Man Accused of Killing Tucker Beathard’s Brother

According to WSMV.com, Michael Mosley has been indicted by a grand jury and charged with two counts of first degree murder/premeditated, one count of attempted first degree murder/premeditated and one count of assault.

Mosley is accused of the stabbing deaths of Clayton Beathard, 22, and Paul Trapeni III, 21, on Dec. 21, 2019, outside Nashville’s Dogwood Bar. Another victim, AJ Bethurum, suffered injuries to his eye and arm.

Clayton is the son of country songwriter Casey Beathard and the brother of singer/songwriter Tucker Beathard (pictured in main photo) and NFL quarterback C.J. Beathard.

“The fatal stabbings appear to have resulted from an argument over a woman that began inside Dogwood Bar and then turned physical when the parties went outside,” according to a press release from Nashville Police in December 2019. “Multiple persons were involved in the outdoor fight during which the two men were both fatally stabbed in their sides.”

Mosley was captured on Dec. 25 in Cheatham County, Tenn., after a joint task force located him in a vacant house.

Danielle Bradbery Shines in New Video for Sultry Single, “Never Have I Ever” [Watch]

Danielle Bradbery released a new single, “Never Have I Ever,” on June 16. Penned by Danielle, Laura Veltz and David Hodges, “Never Have I Ever” will impact country radio on July 13.

Danielle’s new video for the tune, which was directed by Peter Zavadil, features the 23-year-old delivering the vulnerable lyrics in a bucolic setting on a ranch in her home state of Texas.

“This was an incredibly raw performance for me, so my hope is that it adds another layer of emotion and meaning to the song for the fans,” says Danielle.

The Season 4 winner of The Voice released her sophomore album, I Don’t Believe We’ve Met, in December 2017, co-penning seven of the 10 tracks.
