Chase McDaniel believes that listening to music in real-time can have a significant impact on listeners, rather than letting an algorithm choose what they hear. The new country artist recalls three life-changing moments he’s had while hearing songs on country radio, and McDaniel hopes his first radio single, “Burned Down Heaven,” has a similar effect on listeners. He was inspired by his grandfather’s old saying, “I think I would turn down heaven for your mamaw.” But when McDaniel accidentally said “burned down heaven” while starting to write the song, that phrase resonated deeply with him and led to the track’s creation, with the help of writer Jon Nite and writer-producer Lindsay Rimes. The songwriting process flowed smoothly, resulting in a well-developed demo completed in under three hours that served as the foundation for the final recording. The track was released to country radio by Big Machine in mid-March, and the song has performed well, resonating with fans who connect to the honesty in McDaniel’s story. (Billboard)
