Brother of Man Accused in Blount County Deputy Shooting Waives Right to Initial Hearing

Blount County, TN (WOKI) The brother of an Alcoa man accused of shooting and killing Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputy Greg McCowan waived his right to an initial hearing Thursday morning.

Marcus DeHart is charged with being an accessory after the fact and is currently out on bond.

He is accused of helping his brother, Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr., evade police after allegedly shooting and killing Deputy McCowan and shooting and wounding BCSO Deputy Shelby Eggers following a traffic stop in February.

DeHart Jr. led law enforcement on a days-long search before police arrested him.

Marcus DeHart is scheduled to be back in court on August 9.
