NASHVILLE, Tenn. — More than 4,000 workers across Tennessee have been affected by layoffs or business closures so far in 2026, according to the latest WARN notices released by the state.
The most recent filings, posted May 26, show additional job losses at:
- Dura-Shiloh — Dickson County — 69 workers affected
- Shimmick Construction Company — Hamilton County — 183 workers affected
State data shows 4,023 workers have been impacted from January through late May of this year, nearly matching the 4,238 workers affected during the same timeframe in 2025. Both years are trending higher than 2024, when 3,839 workers were affected over a similar period.

Despite the continued layoffs, state officials report Tennessee’s unemployment rate remains steady at 3.6 percent for the third month in a row—below the national rate of 4.3 percent.
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development says employers added about 1,200 jobs between March and April, with the biggest gains in construction, manufacturing, and hospitality.
