KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A 16-year-old who lost both feet in a motorcycle crash has returned home after six weeks of recovery and rehabilitation.
Jordan Parton crashed into a guardrail on I-40 West near Cherry Street in April. He underwent nine surgeries and later received treatment at Patricia Neal Rehab Hospital.
On Tuesday, dozens of motorcyclists gathered at the hospital to welcome him home.
“I’m feeling pretty good. I’m thankful. Real thankful to be alive,” Parton said.
Parton said his focus now is on recovery and learning to walk again.
“Getting better, walking; getting to walking and the process of walking,” he said.
Despite his injuries, Parton said he hopes to ride motorcycles again. His mother said he has been riding dirt bikes since he was five years old.
Officials said Parton was speeding when he lost control of the motorcycle and hit the guardrail. He remained alert after the crash but suffered severe leg injuries.
