KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Knoxville Police Department detectives are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a train late Friday night near downtown Knoxville.
According to KPD, officers responded to reports of an incident on railroad tracks in the area of Blackstock Avenue and McGhee Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, they located an adult male deceased on the tracks.
Investigators have not yet identified the victim publicly, and authorities said efforts are underway to identify the man and notify next of kin.
Detectives are now working to reconstruct the events that led to the fatal collision. As of Saturday, police had not released details about why the victim was in the area or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
While the investigation remains active, authorities said there are currently no indications of foul play.
The Knoxville Police Department continues to gather evidence and review information related to the case. Officials are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to contact KPD.
