SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Plans for a final weekend of summer swimming have been canceled in Sevierville.
City officials announced Wednesday that the Family Aquatic Center at Sevierville City Park has officially closed for the 2026 season and will not reopen for Labor Day weekend as previously scheduled.
The outdoor pool facility, located at 1005 Park Road, had been expected to welcome visitors this Saturday, Sept. 5, for what would have been one of the final opportunities of the season for families to enjoy the popular swimming destination.
However, city officials said a lack of available staff forced the decision to close the facility earlier than planned.
The closure means residents and visitors looking to cool off during the holiday weekend will need to make alternate plans.
The Family Aquatic Center is a popular summertime attraction at Sevierville City Park, featuring pools, water play areas and family-friendly amenities that draw visitors throughout the summer months.
With the 2026 season now officially over, the facility will remain closed during the fall and winter.
City officials say the aquatic center is expected to reopen for the 2027 season on Memorial Day weekend, returning to its traditional seasonal schedule.
No additional details were released regarding staffing shortages or potential future hiring efforts.
