KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) — Quick action by the Knoxville Fire Department prevented a late-night house fire from causing more extensive damage to a home in the Beaumont community.
According to fire officials, crews were dispatched at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday after neighbors reported a fire at a residence in the 1700 block of Mississippi Avenue.
When firefighters with Engine 5 arrived on the scene, they found flames coming from the rear of the house. Crews immediately launched an aggressive interior attack and were able to contain the fire to a single back room before it could spread to other areas of the structure.
Firefighters also conducted a search of the residence and confirmed that no occupants were inside at the time of the fire. Officials said the home appeared to be vacant.
No firefighter injuries were reported during the response.
Investigators with the Knoxville Fire Department are now working to determine the cause of the fire. The extent of the damage has not been released.
The quick containment helped prevent the blaze from extending throughout the home and causing more significant property damage.
