KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a Most Wanted Alert for a man accused in a deadly stabbing at a Knoxville convenience store as a multi-agency manhunt enters its second day.
Authorities are searching for 41-year-old Corey Joseph Huff, who is wanted in connection with a stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning at the Kenjo convenience store on North Broadway. According to the Knoxville Police Department, the victim later died from injuries sustained in the attack.
Police said Huff was spotted at a gas station on Norris Freeway shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday. A short time later, an Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop after locating Huff, but authorities said he refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit.
The chase came to an end near Carden Gap Road, where investigators said Huff abandoned his truck and ran into a wooded area.
The sighting triggered a large-scale search involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Blount County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. Knox County Sheriff’s Office AirWatch and drone teams also assisted in the search effort.
Despite an extensive hours-long operation, authorities were unable to locate Huff. Investigators have since taken possession of the truck he was driving and continued searching the area Monday.
Huff is described as a white male with black hair and brown eyes, standing approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 210 pounds. Investigators warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police have not released the identity of the stabbing victim and have not said whether Huff knew the victim prior to the attack.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to Huff’s arrest.
Anyone with information about Huff’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Knoxville Police Department at 865-215-7316 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
The homicide investigation remains active, and authorities continue to ask the public to remain alert and avoid approaching Huff if he is spotted. Instead, witnesses should immediately contact law enforcement.
