Lee Brice Pays Tribute to U.S. Air Force Major Troy Lee Gilbert During Full Military Honors Funeral Service at Arlington National Cemetery

Lee Brice Pays Tribute to U.S. Air Force Major Troy Lee Gilbert During Full Military Honors Funeral Service at Arlington National Cemetery

Lee Brice paid tribute to U.S. Air Force Maj. Troy Lee Gilbert at a full military honors funeral service yesterday (Dec. 19) held at Arlington National Cemetery, 10 years after his death.

Maj. Troy Gilbert was killed Nov. 27, 2006, when his F-16C Fighting Falcon crashed 20 miles northwest of Baghdad, Iraq, while engaged in support of coalition ground combat operations. After the crash, the pilot’s body was taken away by Al Qaeda members and Maj. Gilbert was declared missing in action. Ten years later, Maj. Gilbert’s body was recovered, allowing him to be laid to rest.

Lee first met Maj. Troy Gilbert’s wife, Ginger, in 2015 at the Folds Honor Event and connected over Lee’s song, “I Drive Your Truck.”

“Troy sold his old beloved truck for a new one about a month before he found out he was deploying,” recalls Ginger. “Things were starting to break on his old one, and he needed a reliable ride. Just a week before he took off for Iraq, he said ‘I think we need to sell my new truck. We really can’t afford to make payments while I am gone.’ So we sold it and he left. Years later when Lee’s song came out, it wasn’t the new truck I wished we still had. It was the old one—the one that belonged to Troy’s dad first, the one Troy drove for years, the one I knew [my sons] Boston and Greyson would get a kick out of.”

Lee honored the family friend with a moving version of “Go Rest High On That Mountain” during the private chapel service held in the Old Post Chapel on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.

“Singing at Troy’s funeral was a moment I’ll never forget.” Says Lee. “I’m grateful for Troy’s sacrifice and I admire Ginger and her family for their sacrifice, also. I can’t imagine what they went through and I’m honored to have been a part of this special moment with this incredibly strong family,” says Lee.

Watch 13-Year-Old Tegan Marie Get Into the Holiday Spirit With Her Own Version of “O, Holy Night”

Watch 13-Year-Old Tegan Marie Get Into the Holiday Spirit With Her Own Version of “O, Holy Night”

Youtube sensation Tegan Marie released the first of three holiday covers on her Facebook page last night (Dec. 19). Picking her holiday favorites, the young singer began with her own version of the Christmas classic, “O, Holy Night.”

Nash Country Daily sat down with Tegan in October to talk about her budding career and doing what she loves at such a young age.

“When I started singing it was just something that I loved to do,” Tegan told Nash Country Daily. “I didn’t really think I could sing until I started uploading videos and people started saying I was doing such a good job. I didn’t really believe, until I started uploading more videos. All my fans, my ‘Teganites’ I call them, make me want to do what I love even more.”

As for her plans for 2017? “All I’m really focused on doing now is writing some more music, getting some more new music out there for everyone,” she said.

Tegan is currently working on that new music that is slated for release in 2017. Due to her love of Christmas, the Michigan native even released an original holiday single called “Just Another Night.”

“If your loved ones weren’t by your side during the holidays it would feel just like a regular day,” said Tegan. “Christmas is by far my favorite time of the year. There is nothing like gathering around the Christmas tree, drinking hot chocolate and celebrating with your family. And, I know how lucky I am to be able to do that.”

Stay tuned to Tegan’s Facebook page this week as she will release two more holiday renditions of “Santa Baby” on Dec. 21 and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” on Dec. 23.

Brett Eldredge Scores Sixth Consecutive No. 1 Hit With “Wanna Be That Song”

Brett Eldredge Scores Sixth Consecutive No. 1 Hit With “Wanna Be That Song”

Brett Eldredge got an early Christmas present yesterday (Dec. 19) when the news came in that his current single, “Wanna Be That Song,” hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, giving the singer his sixth consecutive No. 1 single. His previous No. 1s include “Don’t Ya,” “Beat of the Music” and “Mean To Me” from his Bring You Back album and “Lose My Mind” and “Drunk on Your Love” from Illinois.

“Getting to be ‘that song’ for my fans just makes this so much sweeter, better than any number one I’ve ever had,” said Brett in a statement. “This is the song I’ve wanted to release for a long time so thank you to my team, my fans, country radio—and merry Christmas!”

Brett scored the last No. 1 hit of the year, as the charts take a hiatus for the Christmas holiday before resuming in 2017. The Illinois native is known for doing death-defying stunts when his songs hit the top of the charts, including swimming with sharks and skydiving. No word on what Brett will do to celebrate “Wanna Be That Song,” but we’re sure his mom won’t be happy.

The “Lose My Mind” singer is also seeing success with his first-ever Christmas album, Glow. His duet of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with Meghan Trainor tops the Holiday Music Chart for its third week and sits at No. 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Brett will continue to celebrate Glow on Friday, Dec. 23, on NBC’S Today Show, where he will join the hosts in Nashville to talk about his family’s holiday traditions and share his mother’s cookie recipe.

Congrats to Brett and his team on a very successful 2016.

While Craig may have had some trouble kicking off the song, the Tony Award-winning ScarJo delivered her lines with a calm as cool as the Lieutenant Colonel Cavalry Stetson on his head. Watch the performance below.

Craig and Scarlett are on the six-day, four-country USO holiday tour with Captain America himself, actor Chris Evans, as well as NBA All-Star and Olympic gold medalist Ray Allen, four-time Olympic swimming medalist Maya DiRado and renowned mentalist and entertainer Jim Karol.

It really means a lot to have the opportunity to give back to those who give so much and to bring a little piece of home to them during the holidays.”
