Faith Hill Recovers From Foot Surgery; Announces Final Album on Warner Bros Records

Faith Hill Recovers From Foot Surgery; Announces Final Album on Warner Bros Records

In preparation for the big 2017 Soul2Soul World Tour with her husband, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill took the step (pun intended) to get foot surgery for a past injury she received.

The singer posted her ordeal on Facebook, showing a picture of her bandaged foot, while catching up on some light reading. “Catching up on some reading while I recover from a foot surgery that I finally decided to have from a past injury. Gettin’ stage ready for 2017. Oh, yes….I am going to slay!!!!,” Faith captioned the photo.

But that’s not all. Faith has also announced that she will be releasing her final album for the Warner Brothers record label, titled Deep Tracks. The album is due to drop on Nov. 18 and is made up of deep cuts from Faith’s previous studio albums.

Deep Tracks contains songs from previous albums that were not singles but remain some of my favorites as well as 3 unreleased tracks,” the singer said on Instagram. “There have been some amazing songs that I’ve been fortunate enough to record, some that didn’t make it onto albums, and I thought it would be nice to include a few of those on this album as well.”

With this being her Faith’s final album on the Warner Brothers record label, could that mean a new label and new music are in store for Faith in 2017? Only time will tell. Stay tuned as Faith and Tim gear up for the highly anticipated Soul2Soul World Tour kicking off on April 7, 2017 in New Orleans, La.

Watch Thomas Rhett Morph Into Thomas Rhett in New Video for “Star of the Show”

Thomas Rhett released the music video for his new single, “Star of the Show,” the first song he wrote about his wife, Lauren, shortly after they were married. Directed by TK McKamy and shot in just one unedited take, the video features TR in motion as he struts the street, strums the guitar, hits the drums, walks the red carpet and more—different settings that represent where Lauren took on the title of the song. The new tune, which is the fastest rising single of T-Rhett’s career, is featured on his Tangled Up Deluxe album.

“This music video was unlike anything we’ve shot before, which is why I always love teaming up with TK,” said Thomas Rhett in a release. “He captured that feeling I get when Lauren walks into a room no matter where we are and the spotlight completely turns to her. The song was sped up double-time to get to point A to point B and there were a lot of moving parts we had to execute perfectly for the video to make sense. We literally got it in the last take of the shoot.”

Garth Brooks Honors Vets on “Good Morning America”; Talks Christmas Album With Trisha Yearwood

In honor of Veterans Day today (Nov. 11), Garth Brooks appeared on Good Morning America in New York to show his support for our military by performing “Belleau Wood,” a track from his 1997 album, Sevens.

Garth co-wrote the poignant track about soldiers in the midst of war who call a Christmas truce and join together on the battlefield to sing “Silent Night.” The song reflects a brief moment in time where peace and the human spirit—no matter their differences—triumphed over battle.

Surrounded by U.S military members in the studio, Garth performed a stirring rendition of the song, honoring all who fight for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Garth also went on to talk about his just-released Christmas album, Christmas Together, with wife Trisha Yearwood, who made a surprise appearance on the show. He also discussed his new boxed set, Garth Brooks: The Ultimate Collection, which is only available at Target and contains 126 songs, including his new album, Gunslinger.

Watch GMA’s interview with Garth and Trisha, as well as Garth’s performance of “Belleau Wood.”

Carly Pearce’s New Single, “Every Little Thing,” Gets a Seal of Approval From Kelsea Ballerini, Cam, Lucy Hale [Listen]

Carly Pearce’s New Single, “Every Little Thing,” Gets a Seal of Approval From Kelsea Ballerini, Cam, Lucy Hale [Listen]

It wasn’t long ago (March 2015) that Taylor Swift was raving on Twitter about an up-and-comer named Kelsea Ballerini. Fast-forward 20 months later and Kelsea is now a bonafide star in her own right, so it’s fitting that she’s paying it forward when it comes to supporting other rising artists, including Carly Pearce.

Carly, who is part of CMT’s Next Women of Country 2016 class and has opened shows for Kelsea, Kip Moore and Hunter Hayes in the last year, recently dropped her new single, “Every Little Thing.” As the tune climbs the iTunes Top 40 US Country Songs chart (currently No. 31), artists like Kelsea, Cam and Lucy Hale have been more than happy to chime in on social media in support of the new song.

“Every one deals with losing a big love, and we don’t get to control the process of getting over someone,” says Carly about the new song to NCD. “This song is a snapshot into the heartbreak of what I felt to lose that kind of love. I take you on a journey of dealing with the ghost.”

Check out “Every Little Thing” below, as well as what Kelsea, Cam and Lucy Hale had to say about it on Instagram.

CARLY. I'm this girls biggest fan. Listen to this and you will be too. SO PROUD FOR YOU.

Watch Morgane and Chris Stapleton’s Chilling Performance of “You Are My Sunshine” on “Jimmy Fallon”

The two-time CMA Male Vocalist of the Year, Chris Stapleton, and his wife, Morgane, visited the Big Apple yesterday (Nov. 10) to perform “You Are My Sunshine” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Morgane, a singer/songwriter in her own right, sings lead on the tune that was recorded for Dave Cobb’s Southern Family compilation album. The song has a deep meaning for the couple, as the title is inscribed on the inside of Chris’s wedding ring.

“You are my sunshine / My only sunshine / You make me happy when skies are gray / You never know dear how much I love you / Please don’t take my sunshine away,”  belts out Morgane during the song’s chorus.

“You Are My Sunshine” also earned Morgane and Chris a 2016 CMA Award nomination for Vocal Collaboration of the Year, but it was bested by Dierks Bentley and Elle King’s “Different for Girls.”

Watch as the the couple turns a normally uptempo song into a sultry, bluesy, emotional melody.

Watch American Young Honor Our Veterans and Their Families With a Powerful Performance of “Soldier’s Wife” on “America’s Morning Show”

Watch American Young Honor Our Veterans and Their Families With a Powerful Performance of “Soldier’s Wife” on “America’s Morning Show”

Country duo American Young—Kristy Osmunson and Jon Stone—stopped by America’s Morning Show today on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) to perform their song “Soldier’s Wife (Don’t Want You to Go),” a tune that pays tribute to the families left behind of those who serve in the military.

“Our [self-titled] album came out in August, but we’ve been doing ‘Soldier’s Wife’ for about four years,” says Kristy. “It was actually one of the very first songs we recorded as a band. The first time I ever heard it, I thought it was the most powerful song I had heard.”

“We [Billy Montana and Hannah Blaylock] wrote this about four years ago,” says Jon. “We hear a lot of songs in our format that pay homage to our soldiers and troops fighting for all the freedoms that we like to enjoy, but we rarely hear a song that pays homage to the ones who are left behind that have to wait for them—their spouses.”

“Being a part of the country music community, the most amazing thing—the thing that keeps me in this industry—is being able to play shows for our military because you’ll never meet a more devoted type of person, who has given their life and their family’s by living in service of our country,” says Kristy.

Exclusive Premiere: Watch Whiskey Myers’ Gritty New Lyric Video for “Mud”

Exclusive Premiere: Watch Whiskey Myers’ Gritty New Lyric Video for “Mud”

The good ol’ days of swampy Southern rock that were dominated by The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd are still kicking thanks to bands like Whiskey Myers, a seven-piece comprised of Cody Cannon (lead vocals/guitar), Cody Tate (guitar), John Jeffers (guitar), Gary Brown (bass), Jeff Hogg (drums), Jon Knudson (fiddle/keyboard) and Tony Kent (percussion).

Whiskey Myers, which formed in 2008, dropped its fourth album, Mud, on Sept. 9. Produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell), Mud debuted at No. 4 on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart, a testament to the fans the North Texas troupe has gleaned from an extensive tour schedule and the fervor generated from their 2014 album, Early Morning Shakes.

Mud is a 10-song offering that’s full of Southern soul and swagger, including the title track, which features rollicking guitars, a gospel choir and a gritty groove.

“‘Mud’ is for anyone working hard for a living and is willing to lay it all on the line to keep what they have,” says frontman Cody Cannon. “With that in mind, when the time came, it just felt right to call the album Mud, because it’s an album by a bunch of country boys willing to lay it all on the line.”

Check out the lyric video for “Mud” below.

Ronnie Dunn Reflects on President-Elect Donald Trump: “We May End Up Thinking He’s One of the Better Presidents to Ever Happen, You Never Know”

Ronnie Dunn Reflects on President-Elect Donald Trump: “We May End Up Thinking He’s One of the Better Presidents to Ever Happen, You Never Know”

Today (Nov. 10) Ronnie Dunn stopped by the NCD office to talk about his new album, Tattooed Heart, which drops on Friday, Nov. 11 (more on that tomorrow). But with the U.S. presidential election only two days behind us, Ronnie shared some of his thoughts about the topic that has polarized our nation this week. Ronnie, who has been outspoken about his choice for president, believes there is a need for change in this country and spoke openly about his thoughts on the matter.

Here’s what he had to say.

NCD: We just had a presidential election a couple of days ago.

Ronnie Dunn: “So I heard, is that what that was?”

How do you feel about the outcome?

“I’m like everyone else. It’s like, when it comes to politics, as outspoken as I am, I think for the last few elections I’ve caught myself voting and making a decision out of default. You know? I never feel like, ‘Hey, there’s the one candidate that I’m just crazy about.’

“They’re always blatantly telling you exactly what they think you want to hear to get your vote, obviously. Who knows what their real agenda is? Who knows what any of their real agendas are once they get through the White House doors, so it’s tough. With regards with what’s going on right now, what just happened, I don’t think that it’s a bad idea to have somethings disrupted right now. Change never comes without a little bit of pain and effort and I think that we’re probably set for that to happen.

“I think a lot of it was going to happen anyway. Things like the economy—they’re not in control of that. They can influence it. You know the other night, I’m watching all the networks, just scanning from one to the other, and they’re talking at the latter part of the process, saying the economy had already, the future’s had dropped 800 points and the peso is crashing and Republicans have all bailed on Trump and all this stuff. Today, it’s at an all-time high. Every single thing they ran up the flagpole in the media, including very professional polls, were absolutely debunked.”

How did the media get it so wrong?

“I’m sure they’re asking that question, you know? I think in today’s world we get so caught up in the access to information and we start putting it all together and thinking that we have things figured out. There’s an old famous saying in business that ‘research is great, as long as it’s your research.’ Some of that applies. What happened with Trump was he just stepped up to the mic and said things that resonated with the populous and the majority of people in this country. I don’t think it’s all the ‘Bubba Faction’ or the ‘deplorables,’ as Hillary called it. It’s going to be interesting.”

What do you want to see from President Trump?

“I think there’s two things that if he can do in his first four years, he could walk out and go home and say ‘I pulled it off.’ That’s to get the Supreme Court set out and balanced like it needs to be for the good of America, whatever that is, and deal with healthcare. At least get healthcare on some kind of right track. That’s going to be the big challenge. That requires a cultural upheaval.”

We can honestly say that we have no idea what’s going to happen.

“We may end up thinking he’s one of the better presidents to ever happen. You never know. We’ve had guys step up there who we thought were, they were it. They were going to lead us to the promise land, and nothing. I love what Obama said. I think it was yesterday. He said, ‘No matter who steps into this office, once you walk through the door you realize that it’s bigger than you are.’ We sit back as a population in this country as most people do, and think, ‘Uh, hey, these guys make all the choices and they lead us down the path.’ In reality, that’s not the case. We do. As long as we remember that, and we stay united, we’re okay. The danger right now, in a lot of ways as you well know, is that certain entities, and I blame the media as much as anything, stir it up.”
