Logan Mize Welcomes You To Prairieville with His New Album

Logan Mize‘s new album, Welcome To Prairieville is available now.

Before you hit the road looking for the Prairieville mentioned in the album, just know that you’re not going to find it on any map.

Logan shares that he first started writing tracks to this project a decade ago to escape the daily routine of songwriting in Nashville, “I started writing this 2011 so, ‘Welcome to Prairieville’ was the first song I wrote…and so I made up a fictitious town and started writing songs about it. When I’d get burnt out on Music Row, I’d for fun, just be like, ‘What’s going on in Prairieville today?'”

Being a Midwest guy himself, from Clearwater, Kansas, it was kind of natural for Logan to set the fictitious town of Prairieville in that same area of the country – but when it comes to the songs on the album, Logan says, “I wanted it to be really universally accessible. You know, whether you’re living in Brooklyn, New York or you’re living in Brule, Nebraska. It can still make sense for you and so I took a lot of the very like Midwest specific stuff out of there because I wanted to this thing to have reach…you know, I want it to hit a lot of people”

Logan adds, “So I kind of just picked and choose the songs that I thought had that character to them so it’s really more of a thematic record I guess, but it’s more me than it is about the town, I think.

Welcome to Prairieville track listing:
1. “George Strait Songs” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize)
2. “Welcome To Prairieville” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize)
3. “River Road” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize, Tyler Johnson)
4. “Wine at the Church, Beer at the Bar” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize, Jason Blaine)
5. “Follow Your Heart” (writers: Lynn Hutton, Logan Mize)
6. “I Need Mike” (writer: Blake Chaffin)
7. “If You Get Lucky” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize, Daniel Agee)
8. “Tell the Truth” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize)
9. “We Ain’t Broke” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize)
10. “I Still Miss You” (writers: Blake Chaffin, Logan Mize, Jill Martin)
11. “It’s About Time” (writer: Logan Mize)

When it comes to the album, Logan says, “This is the proudest I’ve ever been of a project. It’s been a long time in the making – the concept has been there, and it’s morphed and changed throughout the years, but this was the first time I finished recording a project, and I felt like we did everything we wanted to do, so this is something I couldn’t be more excited about.”

One of the things that he wanted to do, and did, was change the actual sound of his recordings. Logan and his team turned the clock back on technology and captured the music of Welcome to Prairieville on analog tape, instead of digital – a decision that could actually affect Logan’s future projects as well, “When you hear the drums on the tape machine…there’s no going back. There’s no like ‘Ah, roll Pro Tools in here’ and just now it’s like ‘Oh, wow,’ that’s the difference that it makes when you just physically have an analog tape rolling and so…I don’t know if I can go back at this point. It’s just subtle differences but they make a huge difference”

When you see the title Welcome To Prairieville you might think this an album that stays in a glossy, nostalgic lane, but that’s not the case, Logan says, “There’s a lot of hopeful moments, you know because there’s a dark side to it as well, it’s not all Norman Rockwell small town happiness. It exposes the dark side of it too…especially with ‘I Need Mike’ and even ‘Tell The Truth’ a little bit, it’s not all the fun happy feel good stuff you know it’s like hard lessons in life that you’re going to learn.”

In the end, Logan shares, “I just hope people honestly enjoy it and I hope they can take away something meaningful out of it, but most importantly I just hope it connects with their life and it’s a piece of art they can live with and enjoy for years to come.”

Historic Offensive Showing Propels Tennessee Past Missouri, 62-24

Historic Offensive Showing Propels Tennessee Past Missouri, 62-24

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A record-setting offensive performance and sound defensive play led Tennessee to a 62-24 thrashing of Missouri Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

The Volunteers (3-2, 1-1 SEC) ran for 458 yards and five touchdowns and finished the day with 683 yards of total offense. The defense made two interceptions while holding the Tigers to 74 yards on the ground. Missouri came into the contest averaging 158.5 yards rushing.

Tennessee was led in the run game by Tiyon Evans, who finished with 157 yards and three touchdowns. He had 107 yards in the first quarter, which was the eighth by a Vol in a single quarter since 2000. Quarterback Hendon Hooker finished the day 15-of-19 passing for 225 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 80 yards and a touchdown.

The Vols raced out of the starting blocks, forcing a three-and-out to start the contest. Hooker and the offense took over, needing only five plays to reach the endzone. He found JaVonta Payton down the seam for a 35-yard touchdown, his second in as many games.

Missouri (2-3, 0-2) answered with a 14-play drive, lasting 5:15, and ending in a 43-yard field goal from Harrison Mevis. The Vol offense was quick to strike back, marching 75 yards down the field in 1:57 to score. Hooker, Evans and Jabari Small combined for 53 yards on the ground. Evans ran untouched into the end zone from eight yards out to put the Vols ahead, 14-3, halfway through the first.

After the Tigers’ offense stalled, Tennessee took over at its own 8, and Evans broke free at the line, sprinting 92 yards to the house to open up a 21-3 lead. It was the third-longest rush in Tennessee history and the longest since Eric Gray had a 94-yard touchdown vs. Vanderbilt on Nov. 30, 2019.

The next drive commenced for Missouri at their own 21. They only managed 11 yards before Jeremy Banks intercepted Connor Bazelak and returned it 31 yards before being stopped at the 1-yard line. Evans bulled into the endzone for his third touchdown in as many touches to extend the lead to 28-3, still in the first quarter.

After an action-packed first quarter, the Vols began another downfield march, leading 28-10. Hooker connected on a pair of long completions, including one to Cedric Tillman for 29 yards. Three plays later, the veteran signal caller found Velus Jones Jr., who slipped some tackles and dashed 32 yards to extend the advantage to 35-10.

The historic offensive output continued as the Vols took possession at their own 14. Len’Neth Whitehead had a career-long 33-yard gain to jumpstart the drive. Hooker linked up with Tillman on the right side to enter plus-territory. He then took it himself for 19 yards to get into the red zone. Evans looked to have his fourth touchdown of the day, but after review it was brought back to the 1-yard line. Hooker kept it on a zone read and broke through the plane of the goal with 4:49 left in the half, giving the Vols a 42-10 advantage.

The defense refused to be ignored, forcing a fast three-and-out, giving Tennessee the ball back at the UT 42. Showing a different style of play, the Vols ran a methodical drive, gaining 33 yards on the ground and 17 via the air before stalling out. A field goal from Chase McGrath sailed through the uprights from 25 yards out, upping the lead to 45-10.

The half was near flawless, seeing the Vols gain 275 yards on the ground and 150 through the air. Tennessee’s 45 points were the most it has scored in a game in a half since putting up 49 against Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 23, 2000.

The second half commenced with Hooker making it happen through the air and on the ground. He rushed for 15 yards, while finding Princeton Fant and Jones for 21 yards. The drive slowed and McGrath came back out, drilling a 27-yarder making it 48-10. The Tigers found a much-needed jolt of energy, taking the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for the touchdown, but that could not break the rhythm of the UT attack.

A hard-nosed run game and spaced-out passing attack marched the Orange and White 75 yards on their second drive of the half. Hooker found Tillman on a 24-yard post for his third passing touchdown of the day to make it 55-17, halfway through the third period.

Missouri was struggling to muster any consistent offensive prowess. Bazelak faced a 3rd-and-long just on the Vols side of midfield, but was picked off by Jaylen McCollough, who weaved his way through defenders for a 29-yard return to the MIZ 49.

Tennessee’s offense took the field for one final drive after a Missouri score that went the length of the field. Marcus Pierce Jr. finished the drive and the offensive explosion for the Volunteers with a 27-yard scoring run, his first since joining Tennessee and the Division I ranks.

The Vols return to Neyland Stadium next Saturday for their SEC home opener against South Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET on ESPN2. Tennessee legend Al Wilson will be honored as a member of the 2021 National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

SEC OPENS OCTOBER WITH SIX CONFERENCE GAMES

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2
#8 Arkansas (4-0, 1-0 SEC) at #2 Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC)
Athens, Ga. • Sanford Stadium (92,746)
Noon ET • ESPN
Series: UGA leads, 11-4
Last: UGA, 37-10 (2020 at Fayetteville)
ESPN: Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Holly Rowe
Touchdown Radio: Brett Dolan, Gino Torretta
Sirius: 121/81 • XM: 191/81
Point Spread: Georgia -16.5
Vince’s View: I’ve been so impressed by how hard Arkansas plays and how well coached that team is in all phases, getting the most of their roster. Georgia’s defense is too good and that team is a new level of talent.
Vince’s Pick vs. the line: Arkansas +16.5
Score Prediction: Georgia 30 Arkansas 14

Tennessee (2-2, 0-1 SEC) at Missouri (2-2, 0-1 SEC)
Columbia, Mo. • Faurot Field (62,621)
Noon ET • SEC Network
Series: MIZ leads, 5-4
Last: UT, 35-12 (2020 at Knoxville)
SECN: Dave Neal, Deuce McAllister, Andraya Carter
Sirius: 103/132 • XM: 192/190
Point Spread: Missouri -2.5
Vince’s View: Hendon Hooker is expected to start for the Vols. The offense has been better with him. Will he be limited in the run game coming off of the injury that forced him out of the Florida game last week? Running the ball is going to be necessarily for UT, probably needing over 250 rush yards. Mizzou gives up an average of 270 yards per game on the ground. It should not just be yards, but attempts with the commitment to the run.

The Vols defense needs to be aware of where RB Tyler Badie is at all times. He’s Mizzou’s leading rusher and receiver. Badie is 5 receiving yards away from being the first player in program history with 1,000 career rushing and receiving yards. He averages 150 all-purpose yards per game, which is about 1/3 of Mizzou’s 483 yards of offense per game.

I think this game will be wild and high-scoring. This is a game where we will learn more about this coaching staff’s ability to scheme their way around deficiencies, weaknesses and injuries to find a way to get the most out of this team.

This game is also a culture test. If it’s as good as the players say it is this year, then the players will clean-up the penalties, the drops and the lack of focus that some of the players mentioned from the loss to the Gators. This roster isn’t good enough to keep having to overcome piles of mistakes.

Vince’s Pick vs. the line: Tennessee +2.5
Score Prediction: Tennessee 34 Missouri 31

#12 Ole Miss (3-0, 0-0 SEC) at #1 Alabama (4-0, 1-0 SEC)
Tuscaloosa Ala. • Bryant-Denny Stadium (101,821)
3:30 p.m. ET • CBS
Series: UA leads, 52-10-2
Last: UA, 63-48 (2020 in Oxford)
CBS: Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson
Compass Media Radio: T.J. Rives, Steve Beuerlein
Sirius: 121/81 • XM: 191/81
Point Spread: Alabama -14.5
Vince’s View: I’m going with Ole Miss to shock the world in a season of big upsets. I realize former Saban assistants are 0-for-23 against him. Ole Miss is 0-for-13 vs. AP #1 teams. I get all the numbers. Lane Kiffin knows Alabama so well and has an extra week (and I’m sure much more than that) to prepare.

Matt Corral is the best QB in the country. Dual threat QBs are the ones that at times give the Tide some issues. The Rebels have weapons in so many different skill spots.

The Rebels defense is improved from last season led by MLB Chance Campbell and DE Sam Williams.

A high scoring game where Alabama doesn’t have balance on offense will put a lot on Bryce Young’s shoulders.

The few times Alabama loses in the regular season, those more often come at home to teams with great quarterbacks. Don’t get me wrong, I think Alabama will the best team at season’s end. This is a one week perfect storm pick.

Vince’s Pick vs. the line: Ole Miss +14.5
Score Prediction: Ole Miss 42 Alabama 38

Troy (2-2) at South Carolina (2-2, 0-2 SEC)
Columbia, S.C. • Williams-Brice Stadium (77,559)
3:30 p.m. ET • SEC Network
Series: SC leads, 3-0
SECN: Taylor Zarzour, Matt Stinchcomb, Alyssa Lang
Sirius: 132 • XM: 190
Point Spread: South Carolina -6.5
Vince’s View: The Gamecocks don’t have the roster to win many SEC games, but SC should have enough to beat the Trojans.
Vince’s Pick vs. the line: South Carolina -6.5
Score Prediction: South Carolina 20 Troy 10

#10 Florida (3-1, 1-1 SEC) at Kentucky (4-0, 2-0 SEC)
Lexington, Ky. • Kroger Field (61,000)
6 p.m. ET • ESPN
Series: UF leads, 53-18
Last: UF, 34-10 (2020 at Gainesville)
ESPN: Bob Wischusen, Dan Orlovsky, Kris Budden
Sirius: 106/103 • XM: 235/182
Point Spread: Florida -7.5
Vince’s View: I think Kentucky will do the best job against the Florida run game this season, but the Gators will still get points and pull away late.
Vince’s Pick vs. the line: Florida -7.5
Score Prediction: Florida 31 Kentucky 21

Mississippi State (2-2, 0-1 SEC) at #15 Texas A&M (3-1, 0-1 SEC)
College Station, Texas • Kyle Field (102,733)
7 p.m. ET • SEC Network
Series: Tied 7-7
Last: TAMU, 28-14 (2020 at Starkville)
SECN: Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers, Cole Cubelic
Sirius: 81 • XM: 388/81
Point Spread: Texas A&M -7.5
Vince’s View: Miss State is inconsistent and Texas A&M has underachieved. The Aggies should be refocused and committed to the run game coming off the loss to Arkansas.
Vince’s Pick vs. the line: Texas A&M -7.5
Score Prediction: Texas A&M 28 Mississippi State 14

UConn (0-5) at Vanderbilt (1-3, 0-1 SEC)
Nashville, Tenn. • Vanderbilt Stadium (40,350)
7:30 p.m. ET • ESPNU
Series: VU leads, 2-1
ESPNU: Brian Custer, Kelly Stouffer
Sirius: 121 • XM: 191
Point Spread: Vanderbilt -14.5
Vince’s View: This is ugly. You’re welcome.
Vince’s Pick vs. the line: Vanderbilt -14.5
Score Prediction: Vanderbilt 31 UConn 14

#22 Auburn (3-1, 0-0 SEC at LSU (3-1, 1-0 SEC)
Baton Rouge, La. • Tiger Stadium (102,321)
9 p.m. ET • ESPN
Series: LSU leads, 31-23-1
Last: AU, 48-11 (2020 at Auburn)
ESPN: Joe Tessitore, Greg McElroy, Katie George
ESPN Radio: Sean Kelley, Barrett Jones, Ian Fitzsimmons
Sirius: 138/132 • XM: 202/190
Point Spread: LSU -3
Vince’s View: The quarterback position is the difference in this one. Max Johnson has been excellent. Auburn’s QB situation is up in the air and not great.
Vince’s Pick vs. the line: LSU -3
Score Prediction: LSU 35 Auburn 17

Dylan Scott Is OK with a Little “Static” in His Life

Dylan Scott Is OK with a Little “Static” in His Life

After his smash hit “Nobody” – a song inspired by his wife – topped the music chart earlier this year, Dylan Scott followed it up with his current single “New Truck.”

Now Dylan is sharing another new track with fans, “Static.”

Dylan says, “‘Static’ is a song that relates to a lot of people’s lives, including mine, to a T!”

He adds, “You grow up in a small town, and all you can think about is leaving that small town, chasing a dream, chasing a dollar, moving to a bigger city. And once you get there, it’s all great. But sometimes you’ve just got to get back out in the middle of nowhere, back to your roots, where there’s nothing but a little static on the radio.”

Fans that have seen Dylan out on Luke Bryan‘s Proud To Be Right Here tour have had a preview of the live version of “Static.”

Later this month, on October 23rd, at his annual Bayou Stock in his home state of Louisiana, fans will get to see Dylan belt out “Static” along with a bunch of his hits, including “Nobody,” “My Girl,” and “Hooked,”…plus his current single at country radio, “New Truck.”
