KNOXVILLE, TN (WOKI) – Drivers in Union County should plan for delays this weekend as road construction impacts traffic on Maynardville Highway.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says a traffic shift will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 6, along State Route 33, stretching from near England Road to the intersection with State Route 61 and Satterfield Road.
Crews will be completing work on a box culvert near the north side of Raceway Drive. During the shift, one lane will remain open, with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone. Motorists should be prepared for intermittent, short-term stoppages.
Additional work includes milling, paving, and re-striping the roadway. The traffic shift is expected to wrap up by 7 p.m. the same day, weather permitting.
TDOT urges drivers to slow down, stay alert, and watch for workers in the area. Travelers can check real-time road conditions using the TDOT SmartWay system or by calling 511 before heading out.
